Biography

    • Louis Robert Thompson was born September 1, 1985 in Louisville, Kentucky, USA. He is an actor, singer and dancer best known for his role as the Veterinarian in Sundance Film Festival breakout The Art of Self Defense. He is also a fixture in Louisville theater community starring in roles such as Coach in Ghost, John Henry in American Tales, and Xerxes in Esther The Musical.

Louis began acting in high school; his first role was a Jet in a production of West Side Story, which earned him the Distinguished Actor Award and Scholarship. He continued to act while studying criminal justice at Eastern Kentucky University in Richmond, Kentucky. After graduation, he returned to Louisville where he landed roles in a variety of stage productions that included All Shook Up (Derby Dinner Playhouse), Gospel Nativity (Rush Trowell Entertainment), A Well-Timed Christmas Murder, Specter at the Séance (both WhoDunnit Mystery Theater), Church Folk (Louisville Entertainment), and Money, Marriage and Misery (Tyrone Goodman Productions). Thompson's breakout role came along when he had the chance to play the amorous, adulterous Carl in Dirty Sexy Derby Play for the Louisville Repertory Company. He followed up with another Louisville Repertory Company role in the play The Food Chain, in which he played the self absorbed model Serge. He extended his career to classical theater starring as Jason in the Greek play Medea, the title roles of Othello, Julius Caesar, and as the forlorn Duke Orsino in Twelfth Night.
