Nick Jonas will be rock and rolling all night, and partying every day, as Kiss singer Paul Stanley in the music biopic, Shout It Out Loud. Shout It Out Loud is set to be produced by STX Entertainment and it was reported months ago the studio is talking with Lionsgate to co-finance the project and distribute it worldwide. Darren Lemke (Shazam!) penned the most recent draft of the script. Charlie’s Angels and Terminator Salvation director McG will be helming this biopic. McG has also shown his dramatic prowess with the film We Are Marshall.

Deadline is reporting that Jonas brother, Nick Jonas, is looking to be putting on the face paint as Kiss frontman Paul Stanley for the film. The project was initially going to be set up at Netflix with Joachim Rønning (Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tale) directing, but the project turned around to be put back on the market.

The film will go into production at the end of the year or in early 2026, with STX fully financing. The most recent draft is by Darren Lemke. Previous drafts were done by Ole Sanders and the first writer of the script was William Herron.

Exclusive: Lightyear Entertainment has acquired worldwide rights to feature documentary Harley Flanagan: Wired For Chaos charting the tumultuous life and survival of the titular hardcore punk artist and Cro-Mags band founder.

The work, which premiered at Doc NYC last November and also played at Slamdance, explores how Flanagan’s defied the odds of childhood neglect and sexual abuse as well as drugs, violence and Ptsd.

Lightyear Entertainment will release the film theatrically in North America beginning June 20, 2025, followed by release to VOD, all leading digital platforms and the home entertainment marketplace.

The announcement was made by Arnie Holland, President, Lightyear Entertainment and Producer Laura Lee Flanagan on behalf of the film.

We’ve seen plenty of musical biopics over the years, so it’s somewhat surprising that we’ve never seen one about Kiss, the iconic rock band formed by Gene Simmons, Paul Stanley, Ace Frehley, and Peter Criss. A Kiss biopic has been in development for several years, but it’s been slow going. However, Deadline reports that it’s taking a big leap forward as McG (Terminator Salvation) is in final negotiations to direct Shout It Out Loud.

STX declined to comment, but we hear the studio is in discussions with Lionsgate to distribute the film worldwide and co-finance. The project previously had been set up at Netflix, following a bidding war, with Joachim Rønning attached to direct, as we first reported in 2021.

No word on the framing the film will take in looking at Kiss’s decades-long musical journey. Financed by Polygram Entertainment, the most recent draft of the script is written by Darren Lemke. The project is based on a prior script by Ole Sanders, who was involved with Rønning’s incarnation. William Herron was the first writer on the project.

Deadline reports that the adaptation, which the outlet first announced in late April, has secured a major deal. Way of the Warrior Kid comes from Jock Willink, a retired Navy Seal who became a popular author and podcast host. The first novel, Way of the Warrior Kid: From Wimpy to Warrior the Navy Seal Way, premiered in 2017, and the fifth book in the series premiered in 2022.

As Skydance wrapped up its merger deal with Paramount, the studio has also secured a global deal for a film package that includes Chris Pratt for the adaptation of Way of the Warrior Kid, which came out to $80-$85 million dollars. According to Deadline, that total made this the single biggest package deal out of the film market since Apple had attached onto Emancipation back in 2020. It was revealed just ahead of the Cannes market that Pratt was set to star in the project for director McG.

As we revealed ahead of last month’s Cannes market, Jurassic World star Pratt is teaming with director McG on the in-demand project, which is lining up a summer start. The Will Staples (Without Remorse) script is adapted from the kids novel by Jock Willink, the retired Navy Seal who found a second career as a wildly popular podcast host, author and motivational speaker. Additional casting is in process. Skydance will bring the project to Apple through its overall deal there.

Deadline reports that a package for one of the buzzier titles to hit the Croisette ready to go. And while it’s a Chris Pratt vehicle, not exactly an actor who comes to mind when thinking of Cannes, it’ll likely be a success for whomever snatches it up.
