Biography

Essam Ferris is a multilingual actor known for his intense screen presence and international background. Born in Alexandria, Egypt, he moved to the United States at a young age doing many different jobs so he can move to Hollywood to study acting. He also served 3 years in the military with Special Forces - an experience that profoundly shaped his perspective and depth as a performer.

Essam is best known for his role as Mubarak, opposite Jared Leto, in the Apple TV+ limited series WeCrashed (2022), where his performance brought grounded authenticity to a high-stakes story of ambition and downfall.

His television credits include notable guest star roles on NCIS: New Orleans, SEAL Team, Law & Order: SVU, MacGyver, S.W.A.T., and The Rookie: Feds. He began his screen career with a co-starring role on NBC's Community as Captain Cook.

Essam also starred as the Supreme Leader - the lead villain - in the Netflix action trilogy Rogue Warfare (2018-2020). His film work includes The Prey: Legend of Karnoctus, American Terrorist, and Islamophobia.

He did many different jobs, gaining much experience to which he attributes now in his acting career. After finishing his intensive studies at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in 2013, he landed his first role on the NBC series Community, Co-Starring as Captain Cook followed by a Guest Star appearing on Ncis Nola, Seal Team and Macgyver and he also landed the role of Jesus in the Resurrection Day Play and In 2018-2020 he played the Main Villain as Supreme Leader on Netflix Trilogy "Rogue Warfare". In 2021 he played opposite Jared Leto in the Apple series WeCrashed. And in 2022 he played Copper on the high budget Hulu limited series "Washington Black" He speaks Arabic fluently and basic Spanish and German.
