Born in Malaysia on the 3rd of February in 1971, Nevin Hiong is the up and comer of the Malaysian film industry. Nevin did his BA in music composition from Japan in 1995.
He has exhibited his talent and skills really well in a number of works. From 1995-2010 he setup his music studio and has produced music for many video productions. Affluent in English, Chinese, Japanese and Malay, Nevin has been working in the productions environment for quite some time.
From 2011-2013 he carried out as a cinematographer for many Malay films like Cerita Kita, Nasi Kangkang, Jin, Cerita Hantu Malaysia, Kasut Ku Kusut, Apartment, Sniper, Highland Tower, Mukasurat Cinta, Lagenda Budak Hostel, Ia Wujud and made his mark. Because of starting really early and stepping into the actual works, Nevin was exposed to the technicalities and operation of filmmaking.
Being a sharp learner with quite an observation, Nevin learned quickly and efficiently. He started grasping the ropes quite well. He had started off as a music producer and later on tried the waters of cinematography and by 2014, he produced his first Chinese film "MoKissU" which was released in Malaysia.
Nevin has shown that he has potential to do much more because of an early exposure and being in the industry for a span of years, from a music producer to cinematographer, Nevin debut as a director for the film Kampung Drift in 2016. The film got really good reviews and released in Malaysia, Kampung Drift was a combination of comedy, action, drama, and SCI-FI, a cross genres film that bringing a new air to the filmmaking industry of Malaysia.
