Exclusive: Production has wrapped on Suburban Psycho, a comedy feature from Big Smits Entertainment in association with Danny McBride and David Gordon Green’s Rough House Pictures (The Righteous Gemstones).

Written by Jeff Howard and Bj Bales, Suburban Psycho features the duo in co-starring roles opposite Veronica Mars and Party Down alum Ryan Hansen. The ensemble includes Ron Perlman (Hellboy), Malin Akerman (Watchmen), Dennis Haysbert (24), Patty Guggenheim (She-Hulk: Attorney at Law), Darryl Johnson, Allison Dunbar, Parvesh Cheena, Abe Farrelly, Ryan Gaul, and Emily Pendergast.

The logline reads: When two lifelong friends suspect their beloved best friend is the infamous Infinity Killer, they become reluctant detectives, uncovering dark truths hidden in plain sight.

The film was financed and produced by Jeffrey M. Zucker’s Janowski Entertainment, in partnership with Core 4 Films and 19 Pictures. Zucker produced alongside Ross Kohn, Kale Murphy, Jeff Howard, Bj Bales and Jeff Tyner. Fred Goss directs.

Exclusive: Actress Merrin Dungey has signed with Quest Entertainment & Management.

The signing marks a reunion of sorts for the Gersh-repped Dungey and manager Paul Rosicker of Quest. Dungey has been with Gersh for over two decades, while Rosicker was a TV talent agent at Gersh for 30+ years before launching Quest with partner Brian Ferrantino last year.

Recently, Dungey has been seen in a series regular role opposite Courteney Cox and Greg Kinnear on Starz’s Shining Vale. She’s also recurred on CBS’s S.W.At., Bob’s Burgers for Fox, The Lincoln Lawyer at Netflix, and HBO’s Emmy winner Big Little Lies.

Dungey originally broke out as Francie, the roommate of Jennifer Garner’s Sydney, on J. J. Abrams’ Alias. She continues to be represented by Gersh and Jackoway, Austen Tyerman.

When Adult Swim announced a new series executive produced by “King of the Hill” creators Mike Judge and Greg Daniels, fans would be forgiven for expecting a sharp yet sweet comedy. That is not what “Common Side Effects” is. Instead what premiered is difficult to explain, a series that serves as a tense conspiracy thriller as much as it is a bone dry comedy about ordinary people sucked into a saga that’s grander than they ever imagined.

This is the type of ingenious but genuinely creative premise that makes you wonder how someone hadn’t thought of it yet, but perhaps we should be relieved by that, as the show’s creators, Joseph Bennett and Steve Hely, turn this premise into something utterly gripping.

Max always has a slew of great series to watch, and next month will be no different. With a couple of returning favorites fans are certainly eager to see, there will also be some brand-new shows that viewers won’t want to pass up. While the various series might not be everyone’s cup of tea, they’re certainly some of the most interesting and unique shows out there.

From adult animation to black comedies, Max’s February options will certainly deliver the laughs. While some viewers might find themselves crying through their tears, they’ll at least be entertained in the process. Whether audiences want to explore a brand-new series or stick to one of their returning favorites, Max has a show for them in February.

This year’s SXSW Film Festival, taking place in Austin, TX, has unveiled its lineup this afternoon and it’s another insanely packed year for horror premieres.

While the Midnighter section is dedicated to the genre lovers, SXSW 2025 has filled its Headliner section and beyond with buzzy, highly anticipated titles including Flying Lotus‘s sci-fi horror movie Ash, Christopher Landon‘s ode to Brian De Palma in Drop, and A24’s Death of a Unicorn. The annual confab is officially centered at the San Diego Convention Center, but in reality it invades the city with its army of comics, genre, movie and TV fans and cosplayers looking for the latest news.

Following a sleepy Comic-Con last year thanks to the Hollywood strikes, this year is expected to return to its usual crazy, especially with Marvel Studios back in Hall H for a pair of events: a Thursday panel devoted to Deadpool & Wolverine on the same day it opens in theaters, and a Saturday evening showcase breaking down what’s going on the the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Rosicker started at Gersh three weeks after graduating from UCLA in 1988, and was promoted to agent within three years, after starting out in the mailroom. Prior to his departure from the agency, he served as Senior Vice President, focusing on television talent and helping to build a department that now claims over 300+ series regular clients.

Ferrantino has had his own shingle, Ferrantino Entertainment, since 2010. Prior to that, he worked for Robert Duvall’s production company, Butcher’s Run. The Groundlings will host an improv musical fundraising event on Oct. 26, featuring Ana Gasteyer, Kristen Bell, Kristen Wiig and Will Forte. The event, held at the Performing Arts Center at Vista Del Mar, will benefit the Motion Picture & Television Fund to support below-the-line workers impacted by the strikes.

“One Night Only,” created and directed by Groundlings Main Company member Andrew Leeds, is a full production of a well-known Broadway musical. The catch? The improvisers are given the script and their roles only 24 hours in advance.

“These strikes have taken a terrible toll on our amazing crews, and it isn’t over yet. Even with the WGA strike ending, most crew members won’t be able to start work again until the SAG-AFTRA deal is ratified,” Leeds said in a statement. “Even then, many will be fighting to survive as they wait for productions to start back up.

Ana Gasteyer, Kristen Bell, Kristen Wiig, and Will Forte are among the performers scheduled to take part in One Night Only, a Groundlings musical improv show to benefit the Motion Picture & Television Fund.

Re-Opening, which won a handful of awards at North American indie and comedy festivals last year, follows the cast and crew of a struggling theater in Pigeon Valley, Tennessee, as they attempt to prepare the theater to reopen after months of being closed down due to the Covid lockdown. The mockumentary, which nods to classics of the genre such as Waiting For Guffman, is co-directed, co-produced and co-written by TikTok comedy actory and Groundlings alum Chris Guerra who also stars alongside Kelsey Cooke (who also produces), Patty Guggenheim, Emily Pendergast and Leonard Robinson.

The film will be streamed to BlazeTV subscribers on May 4.

Exclusive: Comedy Central has set up Out of Office (working title), a workplace comedy film from The Office executive producers Ben Silverman and Paul Lieberstein. The movie, which is set to premiere this summer, is a co-production of MTV Entertainment Studios, CBS Studios and Silverman and Howard T. Owens’ Propagate.

Described as an original take on a modern workplace comedy, Out of Office stars Ken Jeong, Leslie Jones, Jason Alexander, Cheri Oteri, Jay Pharoah, Milana Vayntrub, Oscar Nuñez, Paul F. Tompkins, Jim Rash, Tony Rodriguez, Emily Pendergast, Chris Gethard, Christopher Smith, Elaine Carroll, Carmen Flood, Jean St. James, Rebecca Lee, Janine Poreba, Monte Markham, Ryan Radis and Shantira Jackson.

Exclusive: Aya Cash, from FX’s You’re the Worst and Fosse/Verdon, and William Jackson Harper, who just wrapped his four-season run on NBC’s The Good Place, will topline We Broke Up, an indie comedy directed by Jeff Rosenberg.

In order to not disrupt the fun, the couple decides to pretend they’re still together until the weekend is over. But pretending isn’t as easy as they think it’ll be.
