If you pay attention to both superhero TV shows / movies and comic books, you can get a sense of when someone is going to return in the latter or get a major push. For example, before Avengers: Infinity War premiered in theaters in 2018, Marvel Comics released Thanos (written by Jeff Lemire and with art by Mike Deodato Jr). This was likely preparation for the Mad Titan’s domination in the the conclusion of the Marvel Cinematic Universe's Infinity Saga. Flash forward seven years to Daredevil: Born Again, and it seemed like the groundwork was laid for another villain's big comic book return.
The creative team for the hit Disney+ Plus show took a different approach when it came to villains. Instead of using popular antagonists like Typhoid Mary to accompany Wilson Fisk, they used a lesser-known character named Muse (who debuted in Daredevil No. 11 in 2015).

Even though Thunderbolts* and The Fantastic Four are taking over the MCU this summer, Spider-Man remains Marvel’s most popular hero. The web-head has been consistently receiving new apparel collections, Lego sets, Funko Pops, and action figures ahead of Tom Holland’s return as Spider-Man in Brand New Day next summer. Now Mondo has swung back into action to tear apart New York with their new villainous Spider-Man figure.
Based on Spider-Man: The Animated Series, Mondo’s latest figure in their ⅙ scale collection is Carnage. The psychopathic serial killer comes with a ton of menacing accessories. This includes four additional heads (two scary Cletus Kasady heads), two sets of extra hands, a shield, an axe, and a scythe. There's also extra symbiote tendrils to put on Carnage. The figure stands at 13-inches tall and will be $245 Usd. Mondo will be selling an additional The Amazing Spider-Man #361 red foil poster as well,...

One Marvel character is officially credited as the main Wolverine as the world is threatened by a new supervillain team, and Logan has nothing to do with it. Parallel to Marvel Studios' Thunderbolts*, Marvel Comics unveiled the real title of its new Thunderbolts run, replacing the team's name with The New Avengers — the eponymous name of Marvel's new team of anti-heroes, led by Bucky Barnes a.k.a. the Winter Soldier and Natasha Romanoff a.k.a. Black Widow.
As Sorcerer Supreme Doctor Doom continues his reign, the Winter Soldier and Black Widow reunite to fight a common enemy. Bucky and Natasha pick some of the deadliest heroes currently available, from Namor and Hulk to Carnage himself. However, before they get to recruit their whole team, Bucky and Natasha join forces with their first official teammate, Laura Kinney a.k.a. Wolverine, who Bucky describes as "the best there is at what she does.

Carnage is known for being one of the most sadistic Marvel villains ever created, and with good reason. This frightening creature is usually the combination of two different beings: A serial killer in the form of Cletus Kasady and the twisted offspring of the Venom symbiote. Together, they make for a perfect recipe of disaster and death. However, they were recently forced to part ways, with the symbiote needing to find a new host to stay alive. Unfortunately (depending on how you see it), that's when Eddie Brock came into the picture.
Eddie Brock: Carnage (2025) is Marvel's latest comic book series featuring the unhinged supervillain. However, the biggest difference this time around is that the symbiote's "other half" is actually sane. Eddie does his best to only chase prey who deserve to be hunted, keep collateral damage to a minimum, and even save lives along the way. However, his good...

It comes as no surprise that the WWE Superstars have a knack for wrestling, and sooner or later, the wrestlers make a transition in their career and hope to make it big in Tinsel Town. Over the years, renowned talents like Dwayne Johnson, John Cena, Dave Batista, Big Show, and many more have made their debut in films or TV series.
However, Show’s appearance was significantly different from his locker room colleague, as fans were confused about his role in the fantasy horror series, Van Helsing. Despite the show concluding back in 2021, fans are still confused to this day about the star’s role and what its significance was in the plot.
Interestingly, his role added a layer of depth to his brute personality, which made the show so memorable.

It’s when comic book companies take the opportunity to give hints and previews about things to come in their upcoming stories. The New Avengers are back, as Marvel gives the beloved team their own series after years out of the spotlight. A new roster including Winter Soldier, Black Widow, Carnage, Wolverine, Clea Strange, Namor and the Hulk will assemble, but wait until you find out who they're up against.
Fresh off recent events in the MCU, Marvel is releasing a new volume of New Avengers. Marvel promises "a revolutionary new era of Earth's Mightiest Heroes" in the spirit of the original team, created by Brian Michael Bendis and David Finch. The publisher is calling this team "Earth's Deadliest Heroes," as they go up against a threat that can't be allowed to survive.
Marvel had previously announced that Humphries' series would be a Thunderbolts title, however it's now been revealed that the roster will constitute a fresh version of the New Avengers. Shockingly, the team are going up against evil versions of...

The Sentry and The Void (whose real name is Robert “Bob” Reynolds) are among the most powerful beings in the world of Marvel Comics. He’s knocked out Wolverine (Wolverine No. 47), taken Thor to his limit (Marvel Comics Siege), and ripped Ares in half. This June, Marvel is launching a brand-new Thunderbolts comic series. Written by Sam Humphries and illustrated by Ton Lima, New Thunderbolts will feature some of the most powerful and unpredictable characters in the Marvel Universe.
The Thunderbolts have always been a team of unlikely allies—reformed villains, antiheroes, and mercenaries who take on dangerous missions that others won’t. Now, Bucky Barnes (The Winter Soldier) and Black Widow are putting together a new squad to face a massive threat.
The new team includes The Winter Soldier, Black Widow, Carnage, The Hulk, Namor, Clea, and Wolverine. It's been well over a year now since Marvel's Spider-Man 2 swung onto the PlayStation 5 and, oddly enough, it's been nearly as long since developer Insomniac Games has provided any sort of update regarding a follow-up game or even some Dlc that would continue the story of Peter Parker and Miles Morales.
With the game recently debuting on PC, the series' leading man Yuri Lowenthal provided a small, but promising update for his character Peter Parker, who, after the events of his most recent adventure, decided to take a break from being Spider-Man, leaving the duties of being New York City's primary webslinger to Miles Morales. Back in September 2000, Marvel made history by re-imagining one of their most popular heroes ever. The original Ultimate Spider-Man comic book series took over the world by introducing unexpected changes to the character's mythos. The Green Goblin was pictured as a huge rampaging monster, Gwen Stacy would eventually perish at the hands of Carnage, and Norman Osborn was involved in the creation of the wall-crawler. However, while fans fell in love with these original stories, the most important contribution of the series would come after the death of its main character: Peter Parker.
Spider-Man died in his last fight against Norman Osborn, leaving New York City without one of its greatest protectors. At the time, it was a very shocking moment for superhero fans, but little did we know that Marvel had bigger plans in store. After Peter left the scene, Miles Morales swung into the picture and became...

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 had so much ambition and an opportunity to be bigger than the first game ever could be. In many ways, the sequel succeeded, but over time, it was clear that what was given in the sequel seems to be all players got. There's a lingering feeling of missed opportunities, especially regarding Cletus Kasady, the twisted cult leader obsessed with fire. This felt like it was supposed to be so much more than what was given, and an obvious Dlc would be focused on him.
His chilling introduction in the side missions hinted at his future transformation into Carnage and suggested much more could have been explored. The story cleverly sets up links with Yuri Watanabe’s shift into the Wraith, and it seems like chaotic Carnage could have created a great conflict between the main heroes. Season 5 of Spider-Man: Tas ended on a dramatic note with Madame Web whisking Spider-Man away to search for the real Mary Jane Watson, who had been missing since the end of season 3. This cliffhanger left burning questions about Peter Parker’s future and the fate of his beloved Mary Jane. Budget constraints and behind-the-scenes conflicts contributed to its untimely cancelation.

Marvel was a wild place for comics in the ‘90s, with Spider-Man getting his fair share of events that were amped up to eleven thanks to the decade’s inherently over-the-top and extreme nature, mainly stemming from his infamous Clone Saga and the unexpected debut of Peter Parker’s double, Ben Reilly, as Spider-Man. Thanks to the talent of the cosplay community, Ben Reilly’s brush with the Carnage symbiote has been given the live-action treatment in a way that begs to be explored on the silver screen.

Let’s face it – Spider-Man has one of the most fascinating rogues galleries in comic book history, and Sony has been dead set on bringing these complex villains to the big screen in their own features. It’s a pretty bold strategy when you think about it – taking characters who traditionally serve as antagonists and trying to turn them into leading anti-heroes. Some might call it a desperate attempt to milk Sony’s Spider-Man rights for all they’re worth, while others see it as an interesting experiment in superhero storytelling.

Whatever your take, these villain-centric films have definitely given us some unique interpretations of classic characters, ranging from the truly bizarre to the surprisingly entertaining. As Sony continues to expand its Spider-Man Universe (Ssu), let’s take a deep dive into these anti-hero tales and see how they stack up against each other.

The Avengers have been a staple in the Marvel Universe for decades, and the roster is constantly evolving - which is why it might be surprising to hear that I think the team was at its strongest under Magneto's unexpected leadership. It's hard to top a line-up like Loki, Doctor Doom, Enchantress, Carnage, and even more heavy-hitters, and I believe that the Master of Magnetism recruited the most powerful Avengers ever.
Avengers & X-Men: Axis #2 by Rick Remender and Andy Kubert is one of the tensest events I've read, as Magneto's rage-fueled murder of Red Skull allowed him to become Red Onslaught and begin using Charles Xavier's telepathic strength to spread worldwide hatred. As readers, we all witnessed many of the most talented Avengers and X-Men reduced to failed plans and inadequate powers.
Red Onslaught may have emerged victorious had Magneto not chosen that moment to rewrite the game.

It's no surprise that the Marvel Cinematic Universe has a recursive effect on the stories published in Marvel Comics. The latest result of that synergy is the new Marvel comic mini-series "Tva."
The Tva is an extra-dimensional organization designed to keep the multitude of timelines in check. Now, the Time Variance Authority does have its earliest roots in Marvel Comics.
However, the Tva shot to new prominence due to its role in the MCU. It was the primary setting of the two season Disney+ series "Loki," where the God of Mischief (Tom Hiddleston) was drafted as a Tva agent. The Authority also played a major part in Marvel's multiverse buddy comedy, "Deadpool & Wolverine."
"Tva" is bringing the comic Time Variance Authority in line with the onscreen one. The comic is written by "Loki" writer Katharyn Blair (and drawn by Pere Pérez) and introduces several of the McU-exclusive Tva characters.

A highly talented cosplayer has just delivered one of the most epic Carnage cosplays to date, proving that Sony's decision to spotlight the villain in Venom: Let There Be Carnage was a stellar choice. In every Venom movie, there is a new symbiote who shows up to fight the odd anti-hero duo of Venom and Eddie Brock. However, as the final part of Sonys Venom trilogy, Venom: The Last Dance boasts several symbiote characters who appear throughout the film.
Many of these symbiotes have acted as background cameos in 2018s Venom as part of the Life Foundation, yet it appears they may now be the central threat. But who are these symbiotes, and where have they shown up before? Venom War #4 by Al Ewing and Iban Coello features the death of the most famous host of the Venom symbiote. In this shocking issue, Eddie Brock takes on the mantle of Anti-Venom once again to destroy the Zombiote threat plaguing New York City.

While there have been suggestions from Tom Hardy himself that, despite The Last Dance being billed as the final Venom film, he's not done with the character of Venom (and that there's still so much to do with the Venom character that hasn't yet been explored on film).

Every Marvel fan knows that Carnage is ten times worse than Venom, especially when he's paired with his classic host, Cletus Kasady. He's a bloodthirsty, rage-filled maniac bent on the destruction of all life. That's only in American comics though - in a manga style, Carnage's personality can only be heightened into something so terrifying that it will disturb Marvel fans for years to come.
Out of all the symbiotes in Marvel's history, Carnage is still the deadliest, if not the most villainous too. Now, in a new preview, he's getting a manga-like redesign for Kid Venom #3 by Taigami, Hatano, Mattia Iacono, Joe Sabino, and Aki Yanagi. Gracing the cover of this new issue, a very different Carnage is coming to Marvel, looking just as bone-chilling as the original.

Sony Pictures has never released "Art of the Film" books for the Venom movies, a shame when we're sure there are heaps of awesome designs we've yet to see for both the title character and the likes of Carnage and She-Venom.
On the plus side, a couple of the artists who worked on Venom: The Last Dance have shared their work on ArtStation. Valentin Petrov posted a badass shot of the Lethal Protector riding a motorcycle through Area 51 as the Xenophage chased him down.
This was undoubtedly one of the Venom franchise's best action sequences and a fun callback to Eddie Brock's love of his bike in both the first movie and Venom: Let There Be Carnage.
Karl Lindberg, meanwhile, has shared a bunch of his designs, including Venom Horse, Venom Frog, and the monstrous Xenophage. There's plenty more to be found on his profile, so we'd suggest checking that out here.

Spoiler Alert: Spoilers follow for Venom: The Last DanceOne week into its release, its clear that Venom: The Last Dance isnt quite the massive hit that Sony was hoping for. While the first Venom was a surprise blockbuster despite middling reviews (it hit nearly $1 billion worldwide), and the second was almost as successful, the final chapter has had the lowest opening weekend gross of the entire trilogy. It couldnt have come at a worse time for Sony, coupled with the dire reception to Morbius and Madame Web. Not to mention that 2024 has already proven one of the most dire years for the comic book genre in recent memory.
Yet Venom: The Last Dance at long last seems to suggest that an endgame is in sight for Sonys shared universe. The film prominently features a brand-new antagonist whos clearly being built up as a Thanos-level threat, playing a significant background role...

I'm worried about how similar Knull's story in Venom: The Last Dance is to Kang's in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. Venom 3 is the final film in the Venom trilogy, but it still leaves room for the Sony Spider-Man Universe to expand. The film introduces Knull, the creator of the symbiotes, who has the power to destroy any world he encounters. He is a massive threat to humanity and could be an overarching villain for the Sony universe and the MCU. While Knull doesn't do much in Venom 3, he could return to wreak havoc later.
Knull is an awesome villain with an excellent design and powerful abilities that make him an Avengers-level threat. I hope we see more of him, whether he returns in a Sony or MCU project. However, Sony hasn't shared its plans for him yet, and he shares many concerning similarities with the McU's Kang the Conqueror.

What are the symbiotes in Marvel’s Venom? (Photo Credit – Instagram)
Sony’s Venom: The Last Dance will soon flash on the big screen as the last chapter will take our breath away by introducing the biggest Marvel Cinematic Universe villain, Knull. Tom Hardy’s movie has introduced several symbiotes, including the creation of Knull. Beyond Venom, MCU has introduced several other symbiotes seeking human hosts to survive and bond with.
While the symbiote, bonded with Eddie Brock, is well-known, other symbiotes are darker and more dangerous. Originating from Klyntar, these symbiotes seek to devour worlds and bond with hosts. Let’s explore all the symbiotes that have appeared in the Venom franchise.

Venom: The Last Dance hasn't received much in the way of critical acclaim, but for the most part, fans do appear to be enjoying Sony Pictures' latest Marvel movie.
Despite taking some major liberties with the comic books - something that's been a sticking point for many since Venom's release in 2018 - the threequel features plenty of fun Easter Eggs, references, and cameos. Some pay homage to the source material and others tie this movie to the wider Marve (Cinematic?) Universe.
In this feature, we're taking a deep dive into those, including nods to Ghostbusters, Spider-Man, and the King in Black's comic book history.

Ghostbusters is another famous Sony franchise and when Venom: The Last Dance takes us to Area 51, there's a very interesting mailbox you'll want to keep an eye out for.

Venom: The Last Dance didn't receive the warmest of responses from many critics heading into the weekend but, for the most part, fans do appear to have had a good time with the Sony Pictures threequel.
During the final act, the Lethal Protector finds himself teaming up with several Symbiotes in a bid to fend off the invading Xenophage. It's an edge-of-your-seat, action-packed sequence but are those aliens based on characters from the comic books? Yes and no.
In this feature, we're revealing the most likely identity of each Symbiote and ranking them from worst to best. That's based on what they bring to the table in Venom: The Last Dance and their sheer level of badassery.

Warning: This article contains spoilers for Venom: The Last Dance.
Knull may have arrived in live-action, but there are still moments from Marvel's King in Black story that probably can't be adapted to the big screen. As the main antagonist of Venom: The Last Dance, the powerful villain Knull has formally arrived in live-action. Though his role in the movie is relatively indirect, Knulls awareness of Earth and Eddie Brock leads towards a potential adaption of Marvel Comics King in Black storyline.
The problem is, the Venom movies place in the Marvel movie universe creates issues for an adaptation of the King in Black story. As it sees Knull invade the Earth with an army of symbiotes and fighting a wealth of Marvel heroes, questions over which universe a King in Black story would take place in naturally arise. Regardless of whether its adapted into Sonys Spider-Man Universe or the MCU,...
