Hong Heon-pyo is an episode director and storyboard artist that specializes in animated TV series and films. Although he has always been interested in visual arts, his father convinced him that it would be too difficult to make a living out of it and so he resolved to study political sciences instead. Filled with doubts after his first year of working experience, he remembered the Japanese animated series he enjoyed watching when he was a child and decided to leave for Japan. He entered the Tokyo Communication Arts College, and with the support of his school, he landed a first job at an animation company, in image capturing. Nevertheless, his dream was to produce his own works, and since he felt as if he would never get the opportunity as long as he stayed in Japan, he decided in 2005 to come back to Korea. A few years later, he was hired by Heewon Entertainment to work on the Japanese version of Janggeum's Dream, and later acted as the director on the Korean side of Japanese-Korean co-produced series Element Hunters. Strong of his experience, he was eventually put in charge of animated series Turning Mecard and its theatrical adaptation Turning Mecard W: Resurrection of the Black Mirror.
