Trace Lysette is an Independant Spirit Award nominated actress and producer best known for her recurring role as Shea in all 5 seasons of Amazon's Golden Globe winning series Transparent and for the feature film Hustlers alongside Jennifer Lopez, Cardi B and Constance Wu.
She was also nominated for an ensemble SAG Award for her work in Transparent and received high praise among critics particularly for her season 3 arc opposite Jay Duplass.
She has also recurred in other productions such as Jonathan Ames' Blunt Talk opposite Sir Patrick Stewart, Midnight Texas, POSE, and Drunk History. She also took part in Tarell Alvin McCraney's coming-of-age drama series David Makes Man, and Martin Gero's Quantum Leap reboot among others.
She most recently played the title role in Monica, opposite academy award nominees Patricia Clarkson and Adriana Barraza in Andrea Pallaoro's latest film which premiered at Venice Film Festival and received an eleven and a half minute standing ovation and earned her a nomination for Best Lead Performance at the 2023 Independent Spirit Awards. She also received a Dorian Award nomination and won the GLAAD Award for Outstanding Film.
She also starred in the art-house indie Venus As A Boy alongside Olivia Culpo and Ty Hodges.
She has received numerous awards and accolades out side of acting including the HRC Trailblazer Award, the Revry TV Icon Award, Queerties Groundbreaker Award, and the OUTfest Legacy award alongside Shirley McClaine.
In 2020 she wrote and sold a pilot with the working title Tribe to FX in association with Paul Feig and Powderkeg Media based on her 20s experience in New York City.
In 2025 she wrote her first feature film with author Jason Yamas, which is in development.
