Financial creators are the new money managers, and Yahoo! is buying in
Image
Yahoo! Finance is opening its doors to the financial creators who reach millions of young consumers on platforms like Instagram, TikTok, and X. The 27-year-old digital hub is rolling out at least four original series and podcasts as it partners with eight notable financial creators.

Five months ago, Yahoo! Finance signaled its interest in the world of money-managing creators when it announced a partnership with Ross Mac, a former Morgan Stanley sales analyst who added his insights to Yahoo!’s premium subscription content. The decision to team up with Mac was informed by the impact of digital platforms on financial trends. A 2022 survey revealed that Gen Z respondents are more likely to trust TikTok and YouTube for monetary advice, rather than relying on traditional financial planners.

Yahoo! described its Ross Mac pact as the first of many creator partnerships, and the brand is now putting its money where its mouth is.

Netflix Teams With Part2 Pictures and Atlas Films for Documentary ‘Get Smart With Money’ (Exclusive)
Image
“Fed Up” director Stephanie Soechtig has teamed up with Part2 Pictures, in association with Atlas Films, to direct the Netflix documentary “Get Smart With Money.”

The personal finance documentary follows several individuals from different socioeconomic backgrounds as they examine their spending habits and, with the help of four financial coaches, figure out their financial goals and ways to improve their money mindset. The four coaches include Peter Adeney (aka Mr. Money Mustache), Tiffany Aliche (aka The Budgetnista), Ross MacDonald (aka Ro Mac) and Paula Pant of Afford Anything.

In a statement, Soechtig said: ”Somehow we have ended up with an education system that teaches us the fundamentals of square dancing, yet fails to teach us the fundamentals about how to manage our money. As a result, most of us are left bewildered when it comes to budgeting or investing – I know I was! While we are calling this a ‘money...

All day Wednesday, dozens of prominent Black women in Hollywood, fashion, business, literature and political activism will be taking over the Instagram accounts of white women including Julia Roberts and Elizabeth Warren, as part of the #ShareTheMicNow campaign, which aims to amplify the voices and stories of Black women.

Created by Bozoma Saint John, Cmo at Endeavor, fashion designer Stacey Bende, and bestselling writers Luvvie Ajayi Jones and Glennon Doyle, the campaign will see 46 Black women run the accounts of 46 white women. “When the world listens to women, it listens to white women. For far too long, Black women’s voices have gone unheard, even though they’ve been using their voices loudly for centuries to enact change,” #ShareTheMicNow said in a press release. “Today, more than ever, it is Necessary that we create a unifying action to center Black women’s lives, stories, and calls to action. We need to listen to Black women.
