Bijou Thaangjam is a multifaceted Indian talent - an acclaimed actor, chef, screenwriter, lyricist, art director, and entrepreneur, originally from Imphal, Manipur. He first gained national attention as a contestant on MasterChef India Season 2, showcasing his culinary flair among the country's top 50. But it was his cinematic journey that made him a recognizable face across both mainstream Bollywood and independent cinema.
Bijou made his acting debut with a notable appearance as Naobi in the biographical sports drama Mary Kom (2014), starring Priyanka Chopra. The role marked a turning point, leading to a series of character-driven performances in films like Shivaay, Jagga Jasoos, Paltan, Happy Phir Bhaag Jayegi, Vodka Diaries, Jamun, Rocketry: The Nambi Effect, Penalty, Karma Cafe, Robinhood Ke Pote, Om: The Battle Within, and III Smoking Barrels.
On television, he appeared in shows like Dil Dosti Dance (Channel V), Traffic (MTV), and Code Red (Colors TV). In the streaming space, Bijou earned recognition for playing Tej Bahadur Thapa, a jawan from 3GR in The Test Case (ALTBalaji), and Pema in the widely acclaimed Aspirants (TVF). He was also seen in Mukhbir: The Story of a Spy (Zee5) and most recently in Dus June Kii Raat (JioCinema/Disney+ Hotstar).
Beyond acting, Bijou is the founder of MadhabiGi®, a natural, organic, and vegan personal care brand, and Cicada Film Production, a boutique film studio focused on producing meaningful stories from Northeast India.
Under his production banner, he has produced and written award-winning short films such as: The Taste of Dreams (Best Screenplay - multiple festivals); The Last Step (festival favorite); Chalk and Chain (currently in post-production).
His debut production Roll The Dice, in collaboration with EaseMyTrip, marked a successful launch. His other films Lembi Leima and Bewafa continue to tour film festivals globally, winning multiple accolades. He received Best Supporting Actor at several international festivals for his role in Lembi Leima.
With a creative voice that reflects the rhythm of Northeast India, Bijou is now emerging not just as a performer, but as a visionary producer and storyteller, whose work spans genres, languages, and platforms.
