Mina Samy is an Egyptian composer and music producer based between London and Cairo. His debut feature, Light: The Tale of Daye's Family, opened the 4th Red Sea International Film Festival and was selected for the 2025 Berlinale in the Generation section. His second feature, Happy Birthday, premiered at Tribeca 2025, where it won Best International Feature and Best Female Director.
A self-taught musician in Egypt, Mina was awarded a full scholarship to pursue a Master's in Composition for Screen at the Royal College of Music in London, where he graduated top of his class and received the Joseph Horovitz Prize for outstanding achievement.
He is an Academy Gold Fellow through the Jonas Gwangwa Music Composition Initiative and an alumnus of both the Composer Filmmaker Accelerator (Vancouver International Film Festival) and the Film Composers Lab with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra. Mina was also selected for the THRIVE Mentorship Program, led by acclaimed composer Lorne Balfe.
Mina recently contributed as an additional composer to StudioCanal's documentary Becoming Hitchcock: The Legacy of Blackmail, and The Age of Disclosure, an unprecedented documentary that premiered at SXSW, in collaboration with award-winning composer Blair Mowat.
He is currently scoring a new project by Academy Award-winning studio Slick Films, as well as his first U.S. production: Sky, Zyprexa, Night - a psychological drama/horror feature directed by Delfine Paolini and lensed by Abdelsalam Moussa. Executive produced by René Bastian (Belladonna Productions), the film is set in upstate New York and features several A-list actors.
