Biography

    • Spencer Streichert is an actor, comedian and filmmaker living in Calgary, AB. Growing up performing in community theatre and rodeoing, he began his film career in 2012 shadowing stunt coordinator Daniel Skene on the sci-fi thriller "Stranded". After moving to Calgary in 2014, he began to learn various filmmaking techniques through NUTV, and studied acting & creative writing at the University of Calgary. Spencer has independently recorded and released 2 stand-up comedy albums, was a Canadian Comedy Award nominee in 2018, and is a 2x Best of Calgary runner up (Best Comedian 2018, Best Filmmaker 2020 ). In 2020, Spencer was named as a "Break out Star" by the Calgary Herald. He has been a team member on the Telus Storyhive funded digital short "Red Water Valley"(2018). In 2019 Spencer produced "A Goog Night Sleeps" which went on to show at numerous festivals around the world, and directed an experimental short "Emote" Which premiered as an art installation at Emmedia. Spencer is also a festival director and co-founder of the Quarantine International Film Festival (QIFF) which was started on March 13th, 2020 as a way for filmmakers from around the globe to stay creative in self Isolation, and has quickly grown to be a favorite among filmmakers world-wide. In 2020, Spencer appeared in the film "Vagrant" which premiered at the Calgary International Film Festival. Most recently, he appeared in season 4 of SyFys' Wynnona Earp.
