Final Destination: Bloodlines leaves franchise box office record in the dust; might receive a digital release this month
Devon Sawa, Ali Larter, Seann William Scott, Kerr Smith, Amanda Detmer, and Chad Donella in Destination finale (2000)
After a 14 year hiatus, the Final Destination franchise returned this year with Final Destination: Bloodlines – and movie-goers were clearly missing these movies, as Bloodlines has quickly become the highest-grossing entry in the franchise. The previous record holder, 2009’s The Final Destination, reached $187 million, but the new sequel has left that record in the dust, pulling in over $230 million so far. That’s in just two and a half weeks of release! Now, according to When to Stream, word is going around that Final Destination: Bloodlines might be getting a digital release in just two more weeks, on June 17th. We’ll have to wait and see if that turns out to be true. As When to Stream noted, “Warner Bros has neither announced nor confirmed the release date. As always, release dates are subject to change.”

Brat Summer Meets the Grim Reaper in Charli Xcx's Sequel Idea for 'Final Destination Bloodlines'
Image
Pop icon Charli Xcx is revisiting the Final Destination franchise ahead of seeing the latest installment, Final Destination Bloodlines, which landed in theaters two weeks ago. The musician only had the best words for the films, as seen on TikTok, and she didn’t hesitate to pitch her own idea for a potential sequel starring “It Girls.” Final Destination began with the 2000 pic and is currently in its sixth chapter, which is not the last for the franchise, as previously hinted by producer Craig Perry. So fingers crossed, Charli’s version could actually come to life.

In the video, the Brat creator initially pointed out why she loves the Final Destination movies, saying they “really just are about hot people getting killed” and with “no moral backbone to the story.” She then detailed her idea, naming some stars she would want featured in her version, including a scream icon:

“I was thinking,...

Why One Final Destination Bloodlines Character Was Killed Despite The Family Twist Clarified By Directors
Image
Warning: This article contains spoilers for Final Destination Bloodlines.

One unexpected death in Final Destination Bloodlines has been explained by the directors. The horror sequel, which follows Death hunting down the descendants of the survivors of a disaster at a tower restaurant called Skyview, set up a potential death scene for Erik Campbell (Richard Harmon), only to reveal that he lived due to not being a blood relative of Skyview survivor Iris Campbell (Gabrielle Rose), because his mother had an affair. However, Erik is then given one of the bloodiest Final Destination Bloodlines deaths when a malfunctioning Mri machine gorily pulls a wheelchair through his torso.

During an interview with Polygon, Final Destination Bloodlines directors Zach Lipovsky and Adam Stein shared their perspectives on Erik's death. They pointed to the line spoken by Tony Todd's character William Bludworth, which is that "when you f--k with Death, things get messy,...

Final Destination: Bloodlines BTS Clip Spotlights Gruesome Practical FX For The "Lawnmower Kill"
Image
Final Destination: Bloodlines has proven to be a massive success for Warner Bros., and has now become the highest-grossing movie in the franchise with a $187+ million global box office haul.

Highly positive reviews are sure to have helped, as are some incredibly inventive, shocking, and downright gruesome kills.

Though the opening Sky View premonition sequence is arguably the highlight of the movie, the "lawnmower death" that befalls poor Uncle Howard has to be a close second. The carnage is brilliantly orchestrated, with several fake-outs building towards Howard falling backwards into the oncoming blades of the lawnmower.

The studio has now shared a behind-the-scenes look at Howard's brutal demise, which relied heavily on practical VFX. We also have some BTS photos of the bloodied cast members.

Check out the clip below, and let us know if you've been to see the movie yet in the comments.

Long-time Final Destination producer Craig Perry has shared his least favorite movie from the horror franchise. He was also a producer on the coming-of-age comedy American Pie.

The revelation was made in an excerpt from Entertainment Weekly journalist Clark Collis' upcoming book titled, Screaming and Conjuring: The Resurrection and Unstoppable Rise of the Modern Horror Movie. He states that Perry admitted that 2009's The Final Destination was the worst one in the franchise. The Final Destination centered around a college student who receives a deadly premonition at an auto race. He managed to avoid the disaster along with his girlfriend and two other friends. Most fans and critics actually seemed to agree with Perry's sentiments about the fourth movie, since it is currently the lowest-rated movie of the franchise on Rotten Tomatoes, with only 28%.

Final Destination: Bloodlines - The Late Tony Todd's Final Lines Were An Unscripted Farewell To His Fans
Image
"I intend to enjoy the time I have left, and I suggest you do the same. Life is precious, enjoy every single second. You never know when... good luck."

Horror legend Tony Todd sadly passed away last November after a long illness, and Final Destination: Bloodlines features the actor's final performance.

Todd makes a brief cameo as the returning Mr. Bludwurth when the beleaguered protagonists pay him a visit in an attempt to figure out how to get themselves off Death's hit list. After giving them a couple of not particularly appealing options, Bludwurth takes his leave, with some parting words for the doomed family members, and his fans.

Co-director Adam Stein has now revealed that Todd's unscripted final words also served as a farewell to the audience.

"Throughout prepping the movie, we knew Tony was sick, and there were times when we weren’t sure if he would...

Final Destination: Bloodlines has earned the best reviews in the franchise’s history—along with a record-breaking box office debut. Despite this recent high point, the series has seen its share of ups and downs over the past three decades. When it comes to picking the worst installment, producer Craig Perry doesn’t hesitate to call out The Final Destination.

In an excerpt from Screaming and Conjuring: The Resurrection and Unstoppable Rise of the Modern Horror Movie by Clark Collis (via Entertainment Weekly), Perry revealed that he originally believed The Final Destination would mark the end of the series. Final Destination Bloodlines Out to Break Franchise Record With Weekend Box Office Tally
Image
The latest Final Destinationmovie, Final Destination Bloodlines, is giving another horror film, a run for its money at the box office. Per Deadline, Bloodlines, in its opening weekend,is on track to earn $45 million, just shy of the $48 million that Ryan Coogler’s vampire horror film, Sinners, made in its debut weekend.

Bloodlines, via Warner Bros., has already broken a record for the highest-grossing opening day for any film in the Final Destination franchise, earning $21 million on its first day in theaters. There’s a slight chance that Bloodlines could earn as much as $50 million this weekend, but that remains to be seen.

Warner Bros. Sinners, in its fifth weekend in theaters, is on its way to adding another $15 million this weekend after tallying $4.4 million on Friday. Sinners, thus far, has earned just shy of $300 million worldwide, with $225.3 million coming from domestic box office totals, per Box Office Mojo.

'Final Destination Bloodlines' Boasts Stellar CinemaScore Rating Amid Unprecedented Rotten Tomatoes Success
Image
Although the Final Destination franchise is admittedly very popular, it has always struggled with the critics. In fact, the franchise seemed to have ended 14 years ago, just as a new wave of director-driven horror movies — these were categorized as "elevated horror" — began to leave an impression in the minds of audiences and critics. Art-house horror, for the first time ever, became mainstream. But Final Destination Bloodlines is flipping the narrative in its debut; not only is the movie expected to overperform at the box office, it has delivered the best reviews in the franchise's quarter-century history.

Bloodlines holds a "certified fresh" 92% score on Rotten Tomatoes, in addition to a "verified hot" 90% audience score on the website. These impressive Rt scores were supplemented by a B+ CinemaScore grade, which is extraordinarily high for a horror movie of this kind. By comparison, the recent blockbuster Sinners earned an A- grade on the...

Final Destination Bloodlines Features The Darkest Joke Of 2025
Image
"Final Destination" is one of the most underrated horror franchises around, with kills so memorable they traumatize entire generations — and turn into great marketing stunts.

Part of the magic of this franchise is how it weaponizes mundane anxieties — fear of flying, roller coasters, and the general uneasy feeling that something bad is about to happen. The films are about the very relatable fear of death: the knowledge that it can happen at any moment, in any way. And that is also where the signature dark humor of "Final Destination" comes in, as it stares death right in the face and presents the audience with the most ridiculous Rube Goldberg-like kills.

The latest entry in the franchise, "Final Destination Bloodlines," may very well be its best. This is a film that ties the entire franchise together, that offers as many ludicrous and fun kills as it does a rather emotional story about family.

The Nastiest Final Destination Bloodlines Kill Will Create A New Phobia In Horror Fans
Image
Spoilers follow.

The "Final Destination" franchise has lain dormant for 14 years, waiting for the perfect moment to strike fear into a whole new generation. I admittedly had my reservations about "Bloodlines" simply because "Final Destination 5" is both the best entry and the thematic lynchpin of the entire series. Most horror franchises would kill to have an ending this tight, so the thought of resurrecting it for another go-around worried me initially. Rest assured, however, that "Bloodlines" is a more than worthy successor that takes the series in an exciting new direction, while still offering up a buffet of gruesomely gory deaths that's best experienced with a crowd. /Film's Bj Colangelo wrote in her review that the sixth entry is a franchise best and I'm very much on the same page.

"Bloodlines" kicks off its carnival of carnage with a tremendous opening premonition sequence set in the '60s atop a Skyview restaurant.

2025 has been one of the weaker years for the film industry as high-budget films like Captain America: Brave New World and Snow White have failed at both impressing the audience and at the box office. While there have been many disappointments this year, it does not mean that there have been no good movies released this year, and to prove that, we have compiled a list of the best movies that have come out in 2025 so far.

Dissecting Death’s Design in Final Destination Bloodlines Interviews with Directors Zach Lipovsky and Adam Stein, Producer Craig Perry, and Composer Tim Wynn
Image
It's hard to believe that it's been 14 years since the last Final Destination film was released in theaters (and the franchise feels more popular now than ever before—just try looking at a log truck on the road and not thinking about that killer opening in Final Destination 2), but the latest installment is well worth the wait. Paying homage to the franchise's past installments while carving its own gory trail in the creatively macabre image of Death's design, Final Destinations Bloodlines is the perfect balance of blood-soaked horror, gallows humor, and heart-wrenching moments, especially because this latest film follows an entire family who have cheated Death by their very existence, and who find themselves in the shadow of the Grim Reaper's scythe now that Death has finally caught up to them decades later...

Final Destination Bloodlines Does One Thing No Other Film In The Series Has Done Before
Image
Death has a design, and it includes you watching "Final Destination Bloodlines" before reading this article, as there are heavy spoilers ahead.

"Final Destination" is one of the most underrated horror franchises out there. Sure, it isn't as influential as some of the heavier hitters, but with the low number of entries comes a higher batting average. Even the worst of the "Final Destination" movies still has some great kills and novel concepts for the franchise. Indeed, what makes this horror series stand out is how inventive it is, taking a rather simple concept and constantly exploring new aspects of it.

There is no iconic villain like Freddy or Michael Myers here, but that's because the kills themselves stay with you in a way few kills in other franchises do. There's no need for a memorable singular villain when you can traumatize an entire generation into not driving behind a...

‘Final Destination Bloodlines’ at the Oscars? 4 genre-friendly categories where the critically hailed horror flick could compete
Image
Final Destination Bloodlines, the sixth installment in the beloved supernatural horror series, opens Friday in theaters. Fans loved the first five Final Destination movies, but they've all been met with a log to the face at the Academy Awards. After this week's glowing critics' reviews, Bloodlines could find itself competitive in four Oscar categories next year ... if voters aren't too afraid.

Kaitlyn Santa Juana stars as Stefani Reyes, a present-day college student inexplicably haunted by a tower collapse from 1968. Teo Briones plays Charlie Reyes, Stefani's younger brother, while Richard Harmon, Owen Patrick Joyner, and Anna Lore play their cousins. Rya Kihlstedt portrays Stefani and Charlie's estranged mother, Darlene Campbell, and the dual role of Grandma Iris was given to Gabrielle Rose (the older version) and Brec Bassinger (the younger version). Horror icon Tony Todd, who died in 2024, returns one last time as fan-fave character William Bludworth, a mortician who...

How Final Destination Filmmakers Choose Which Normal Thing To 'Ruin' For Horror Fans [Exclusive]
Image
Planes, tanning beds, speeding buses, escalators, elevators, fire escapes, air bags, pool drains, gymnastics, acupuncture, nail guns, plates of glass, weight machines, trains, corrective laser eye surgery, driving over bridges, and, of course, driving behind logging trucks are all things that have been ruined for someone courtesy of the first five "Final Destination" movies. Now, the sixth installment, "Final Destination Bloodlines," is ready to terrorize a new generation by awakening new anxieties within us all that we never knew we had.

But how do the twisted minds behind these movies decide what everyday occurrence is going to be irreversibly associated with freak accidents and irrational paranoia? As "Bloodlines" co-director Zach Lipovsky tells me, "It takes many years, and it's an incredible iterative process." Part of that process is a legitimate roundtable with the writers, where they sit back and brainstorm, "What are the things that we can ruin for people?...

Box Office: ‘Final Destination Bloodlines’ Makes $5.5 Million in Previews
Image
Horror’s most ingenious death traps have returned to the big screen as “Final Destination Bloodlines” opens in theaters this weekend.

The R-rated Warner Bros. and New Line horror has made $5.5 million in Thursday previews at the box office. The film is expected to make between $35 million to $45 million in its debut, which would be the franchise’s highest opening weekend ever. It’s on track to add $35 million internationally for a global start of $70 million to $80 million. Costing roughly $50 million to produce, the film should be another bloody good return for Warner Bros. after it had huge success with “Sinners” and “A Minecraft Movie” last month.

“The Final Destination,” the fourth entry released in 2009, currently holds the franchise’s record for highest opening with $28.3 million, followed by “Final Destination 3” with $19.1 million and “Final Destination 5” with $18.4 million.

“Bloodlines,” the sixth “Final Destination” entry, should beat Marvel’s “Thunderbolts,...

Destination finale: Bloodlines (2025)
Final Destination: Bloodlines scares up $4.6 million in early Thursday box office totals
Destination finale: Bloodlines (2025)
The horror franchise with the creative kills is back to splatter blood on the big screen. The new entry, Final Destination: Bloodlines, was long in development after the fifth installment. Franchise producer Craig Perry previously let it be known that the film was aiming for a theatrical release in 2025, in time to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the release of the original film. Tony Todd makes his last appearance in this film before his passing and is joined in the cast by Brec Bassinger, Richard Harmon, Kaitlyn Santa Juana, Teo Briones, Rya Kihlstedt, Anna Lore, Owen Patrick Joyner, Max Lloyd-Jones, Andrew Tinpo Lee, April Amber Telek, and Alex Zahara.

While Final Destination is a well-established franchise for the Warner Bros. studio, it remains to be seen if it can compete with the kind of numbers that Sinners recently brought in just weeks ago. Deadline reports that Final Destination: Bloodlines would...

Final Destination: Bloodlines Cast Share Their Most Irrational Fears (Exclusive)
Image
The Final Destination films pose one question: How could everything around someone go catastrophically wrong? With Bloodlines, the sixth installment in the hit Warner Bros. horror franchise, those fears will be renewed for audiences worldwide—but one can only imagine what the cast themselves feel daily, having lived in that mindset for so long.

Unlike other entries in the series, Final Destination: Bloodlines follows an entire family line marked for death after their grandmother successfully evaded death in the 1950s. Needless to say, Death isn't too happy about it.

The Direct's Russ Milheim sat down with the film's cast to discuss how their time on the movie influenced their interactions with the world and their deep-seated irrational fears. The list of cast we spoke with includes Brec Bassinger (Iris Campbell), Kaitlyn Santa Juana (Stefani Reyes), Teo Briones (Charlie Reyes), Rya Kihlstedt (Darlene Reyes), Richard Harmon (Erik Campbell), Owen Patrick Joyner...

Final Destination Bloodlines Movie Review(Photo Credit –YouTube)

What’s Good: The kill sequences are just as amazing as ever, and the opening must be one of the best in the series.

What’s Bad: Most characters are empty shells waiting to be killed, but that is expected for a film with characters in line only to get killed.

Loo Break: The film is lean and mean, so there aren’t many spaces to take a break.

Watch or Not?: If you loved past installments, then this is a must-watch, and if you are a newcomer, then it is still pretty cool.

Language: English (with subtitles).

Devon Sawa, Ali Larter, Seann William Scott, Kerr Smith, Amanda Detmer, and Chad Donella in Destination finale (2000)
Final Destination: Bloodlines – We speak to the cast and directors about the franchise’s return
Devon Sawa, Ali Larter, Seann William Scott, Kerr Smith, Amanda Detmer, and Chad Donella in Destination finale (2000)
It’s been fourteen years, but the Final Destination franchise is all set to make a triumphant return to the big screen this weekend with Final Destination: Bloodlines. The sixth film in the series, it stars Kaitlyn Santa Juana as a college student who inherits a family curse where they’re able to have premonitions about deaths before they happen. The difference in this one is that the death curse starts taking the descendants of survivors of a curse that happened decades before, giving the film a new twist on the old formula.

Final Destination: Bloodlines is directed by Zach Lipovsky and Adam Stein, whose indie film, Freaks, became an unlikely smash hit on Netflix during the pandemic. Working with a studio budget, they’ve made what many are calling the franchise’s best instalment ever, with plenty of gory deaths we can add to our “best kills list” which we ran yesterday.

'Final Destination Bloodlines' Expected to Break Box Office Opening Weekend Franchise Records
Image
It has been 14 years since Final Destination 5 hit the big screen, and it looks like horror fans still can't get enough of the 25-year-old franchise that turned everyday life occurrences into some of the best horror movie kills on screen. Final Destination Bloodlines serves as the latest entry in the popular horror IP, and if early box office predictions are any indication, this won't be the last tango that moviegoers have with death anytime soon.

Per Deadline, Final Destination Bloodlines could gross between $35-40 million during its opening weekend. Anything in that range would be a franchise-best and a clear indication that Final Destination remains one of the horror genre's most enduring IPs. The previous franchise-best opening belongs to 2009's The Final Destination, which debuted to $27.4 million with a little assist from its 3D hook. That film ultimately grossed $66.4 million domestically and $186.1 million worldwide on a $40 million budget. According...

Final Destination Bloodlines Has Earned A Death-Defying 93% On Rotten Tomatoes
Image
The sixth instalment in the Final Destination franchise is set to hit theaters this weekend, and the review embargo has now lifted.

Despite being popular with horror fans who looked forward to seeing what kind of twistedly inventive scenarios Death would come up with to dispatch those who managed to cheat the Reaper, the Final Destination movies were never what you'd call critical darlings. Even the 2000 original - which is generally regarded as the best - only has a 40% on Rotten Tomatoes.

With this in mind, it's definitely a surprise to see such a positive response to Final Destination Bloodlines. With 59 reviews counted, the movie is currently sitting at 93% on Rotten Tomatoes.

"Adding some surprising emotional layers onto the ghoulish bones of Final Destination's mythology, Bloodlines ingeniously executes grisly set pieces with precision and turns impending doom into outrageous fun."

Final Destination: Bloodlines directors aimed to throw viewers for a loop and keep things unpredictable
Destination finale: Bloodlines (2025)
Last year, Final Destination 6 (which is going by the title Final Destination: Bloodlines) finally, after years of development and a long year gap between sequels, made its way through production. Franchise producer Craig Perry previously let it be known that the film was aiming for a theatrical release in 2025, in time to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the release of the original film. It will even be on IMAX screens! It was recently confirmed that Final Destination: Bloodlines is set to reach theatres this Friday. The directing duo of Zach Lipovsky and Adam B. Stein, who previously directed the 2018 film Freaks (starring Emile Hirsch and Bruce Dern) and the 2019 live-action Kim Possible movie, were at the helm of this film – and during an interview with SFX magazine, Lipovsky said their hope is that the movie will throw viewers for a loop and keep them guessing because things play out in unpredictable ways.

Final Destination Bloodlines Review: A Bloody Good Return And A Fun Franchise Best
Image
Most horror franchises enjoy longevity because they stick to a familiar formula: an unstoppable villain, a perennially haunted setting, or a sharp-tongued survivor for the audience to root for. But then, there's the "Final Destination" series, the rowdy cousin of the iconic maniacs we know and love who shows up without a mask, without a monster, and delivers a higher body count than any of our stalking slashers. The "Final Destination" movies don't need to rely on an easily marketable character that stays relevant through remakes, reimaginings, and hot sales on costumes at Spirit Halloween every spooky season, because its big bad is, well, Death. The fear of "Final Destination" is not rooted in a singular baddie to overcome, but the invisible, inevitable — and apparently obsessed with butchering ala Rube-Goldberg machines — entity that comes for us all — Death.

I'm a firm believer that there's no such thing as a bad "Final Destination" film,...

‘Final Destination Bloodlines’ Review: A Franchise About Death Roars Back to Life
Image
“What it’s about is making things surprising, but inevitable,” the late Stephen Sondheim told D.T. Max in a 2022 profile for The New Yorker. “That’s the great principle of all art that takes place in time.” For a quarter-century, the Final Destination series has operationalized and weaponized the spirit of this dictum to terrify audiences around the inevitability of death. Zach Lipovsky and Adam B. Stein’s Bloodlines, its sixth entry and first in 14 years, finds frights and fun alike in a string of gory kills.

Paradoxically, the film unlocks new vitality within the franchise by largely adhering to a proven formula. Any given Final Destination film plays out like an inverted Mission: Impossible, where a loose plot connects centerpiece sequences of characters narrowly avoiding death. While the peril is similar, a small detail flips the result. Here, the Grim Reaper always wins.

There’s an odd comfort...

Final Destination Bloodlines
Image
You don’t need Esp to know that Final Destination Bloodlines will start with a premonition. And this one’s a belter, eclipsing the plane crash (1), rollercoaster derailment (3), speedway crash (4) and suspension bridge collapse (5) that have previously acted as the franchise’s gory-glory curtain-raisers. Heck, it perhaps even rivals the second instalment’s Route 2 pile-up that made driving behind a logging truck such a no-no for all right-minded motorists.

The precog carnage this time takes place atop a soaring, needle-thin tower not unlike the Stratosphere in Las Vegas, as revellers in the sky-view restaurant stomp their stuff to a band playing ‘Shout’. Iris (Brec Bassinger) is the one being ‘treated’ to a preview, as a rogue coin flung by a bratty kid kickstarts Death’s signature Rube Goldberg routine: champagne corks pop, drums thud, chandeliers tremor, rivets spring, heels scrape, the glass floor cracks, and… well, by the time this...
