From early childhood Adam York was the kid minding the backstage door. At sixteen he was directing and producing with a local Sanford, North Carolina TV station while splitting his time backstage at the local Equity Theater. Adam's strengths backstage turned to a career in Live production design. After a heartbreaking divorce, Adam's interests shifted to film. He was quickly hired to a year-long position directing a TV Pilot and began producing on other budgeted projects. After his contract ended, Adam began dating his future wife Melanie.

In-between touring and designing, Adam developed the art house film company A Stranger Concept Films. As a director Adam crafted his style on unique visuals, strong self-awareness, and dark humor; all core parts of those films. Occasionally, Adam's work is compared to David Lynch, possibly due to a love of fringe experimental theater but more likely due to a bizarre interest in human-sized rabbits.

Adam is a proud member of IATSE Local 322, as well as a graduate of N.C. Governor's school and Catawba College. A life-long battle with bone cancer cost Adam his right leg to the hip. He is still active in directing, designing, consulting, scripting and producing. Adam's hobbies include painting, chess, graphic design, writing, and merrily annoying his stepdaughter Maggie.
