Ben van Berkum

Ben grew up in Deerfield, New Hampshire and began acting in high school, creating films for local festivals. He fell in love with it, and eventually moved to New York in search of new venues through which to explore the craft, which he now dedicates his life to refining. He believes that technique is only a step, and enjoys acting through all mediums from the camera to the theatre, from the improvisational to the precisely mapped. He believes that good people in collaboration create the best material, and in work ethic and the right balance between fun and focus.

Ben has taught English in China and India, and worked on farms in Australia. He also enjoys reading, practicing martial arts, music, cycling, and generally being outside. He loves New York but sometimes misses the mountains, and feels fortunate that his family lives in the northeast so he is able to see them regularly. Ben loves food and coffee and spending a quiet Saturday night in with a pile of scripts.
