Alan Burrough, CBE, was a British businessman, army officer and competitive rower.

Alan rowed 10 times at the Henley Royal Regatta along with competing three times, for Cambridge, in the Oxford vs. Cambridge boat races.

Alan was on the losing Cambridge team in the 1937 Oxford vs.Cambridge Boat Race, breaking Cambridge's 13 year unbeaten run, was on the losing Cambridge teams in the 1938 Oxford vs. Cambridge boat race, the first Oxford vs. Cambridge boat race to be televised. and was on the winning Cambridge team in the 1939 boat race. Due to all official races between 1940-1945 being cancelled due to the outbreak of World War II, Alan never competed for Cambridge again.

Alan married June 'Rosie' Bruce in November 1939. In World War II, Alan served as an artillery observation officer in Africa, where he lost the lower part of his right leg. Alan was appointed a Steward of Henley Royal Regatta in 1951 and was on the Management Committee from 1960 to 1985. In 1987, Alan donated £515,000 to the regatta, which allowed the regatta to purchase of lease of Temple Island for 999 years. Alan was the owner of a race horse called 'Corbiere' , which won the 1983 Grand National.
