Daredevil: Born Again Editor Says Marvel "Told Us Not To Watch The Netflix Show" Prior To Overhaul
Image
We already knew that Daredevil: Born Again was shaping up to be a very different show prior to the much-discussed creative overhaul, but it sounds like original showrunners Matt Corman and Chris Ord (and likely some studio higher-ups) were more determined to distance the Disney+ revival from its Netflix predecessor than we realized.

While speaking to Awards Radar, editor Stephanie Filo revealed that she and others who worked on the show were told not to watch Netflix's Daredevil.

“The original take on it was to lean away from the Netflix Daredevil show. They actually told us not to watch the Netflix show, because they didn’t want to affect how we were editing it. Once we restructured everything and figured out we would do a different take on it, we dove back into the Netflix side of things. We were able to use temp music from that Netflix series, and...

Ironheart Star Reveals the Marvel Team She Most Wants Riri Williams to Meet
Image
Dominique Thorne thinks Ironheart's Riri Williams would work best with heroes her age.

Speaking to Den of Geek on her character's future, Thorne addressed the wide range of superhero teams forming in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and how Riri could fit into them post-Ironheart. Regarding which one would be the most fun for storytelling purposes, she declared, "I think I gotta say the Young Avengers," later adding how that particular team factors into her struggles as a newcomer hero.

"When we meet her, she's just 19 years old. Sometimes when we are so young, it's very easy for us to sort of have blinders on and to only really think about or focus on what’s in front of us at the moment," Thorne said, pointing to the unexpected ramifications her Black Panther: Wakanda Forever inventions had in nearly sparking a war between nations. "We saw that in Riri and Wakanda,...

Daredevil: Born Again Set Video Reveals Major Season 2 Spoiler - With Spider-man: Brand New Day Implications?
Image
On Friday, we learned Jon Bernthal will reprise his role as The Punisher in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. We last saw the actor in action as Frank Castle in Daredevil: Born Again, while a Special Presentation is also planned for the vigilante.

As we write this, Bernthal hasn't been announced for Daredevil: Born Again season 2, making it more likely that the aforementioned Special Presentation will bridge the gap between the two MCU projects.

How is Spider-Man: Brand New Day going to deal with Mayor Fisk's takeover of New York? Perhaps it won't.

Every Daredevil: Born Again season 2 set photo and video has shown Matt Murdock and Karen Page incognito and keeping their heads down, thanks to the Anti-Vigilante Task Force patrolling the Big Apple. However, our latest look at the series features the duo looking very happy and clearly no longer in hiding.

The prevailing theory among fans is that...

Charlie Cox Posing With a Little Kid Dressed as Daredevil Is the Cutest Thing You’ll See Today
Image
Ever since Daredevil: Born Again Season 1 premiered, Charlie Cox has become one of the MCU’s most beloved stars. It’s no surprise that he has fans of all ages, from longtime comic readers to a new generation discovering Daredevil for the first time.

During his recent appearance at Washington State Summer Con, Cox had a heartwarming encounter with one of his youngest fans. A little boy, dressed in Daredevil’s original homemade black suit — the one Matt Murdock wore in the early days of fighting crime in Hell’s Kitchen, approached the actor. The moment captured the spirit of what makes comic conventions so special: fans getting to meet their heroes, and sometimes even becoming them for a day.

The sight of Cox kneeling down to pose with the mini Daredevil quickly made the rounds online, with fans calling it one of the cutest and most wholesome moments from the event.

Rumor: Marvel Is Considering A New Jessica Jones Ahead Of Krysten Ritter's Daredevil: Born Again Return
Image
Jessica Jones star Krysten Ritter has long been rumoured to make her MCU debut, but it was confirmed last month that she'll finally reprise the role in Daredevil: Born Again season 2.

She-Hulk: Attorney at Law and Echo seemed likely possibilities once upon a time, and it was widely reported that Ritter came close to shooting a cameo for the latter. Unfortunately, that was scrapped when it became a standalone "Marvel Spotlight" series (whatever happened to that branding?).

Following the largely disappointing second and third seasons of Jessica's solo series, fans are excited to see Ritter get another chance courtesy of Marvel Studios. However, there may be much more to her MCU future than a supporting turn in Daredevil: Born Again.

According to scooper Daniel Richtman, Marvel Studios is considering developing a new Jessica Jones TV series. We'd imagine that hinges on the success of the Man Without Fear...

Disney Leads U.S. Box Office With $1.1B Year To Date, But Warner Bros Is Billion-Bound Too
Image
As we near the half year point of 2025 for the domestic box office, which is currently running at $3.7 billion (+23% over 2024) for Jan. 1-June 15 frame, Disney Studios is leading all majors with $1.1 billion.

That’s not a surprise with a string of mass-appealing movies, i.e. Lilo & Stitch ($371.7M) and Marvel Studios’ Captain America: Brave New World ($200.5M). Even the ones that didn’t work to the top of their potential are providing a lot of cushion, read Marvel’s Thunderbolts* ($188.9M) and Snow White ($87.2M).

But the big pom pom worth waving is for Warner Bros. which stands at $906.9M through yesterday from eight titles. With F1, James Gunn’s Superman and Weapons on deck in the next month and half, the Burbank, CA lot is destined for $1 billion-plus at the domestic box office before Labor Day. For all the cry-cry about how the pressure is on the motion picture...

Alex Garland’s 93% Rotten Tomatoes War Thriller Just Beat Denzel Washington’s $191 Million Action Sequel on Global Streaming Charts
Image
As it did when it debuted in theaters earlier this year, Alex Garland and Ray Mendoza's Warfare dropped on streaming with a bang. The war thriller, which sort of underperformed at the box office but earned excellent reviews, beat a Denzel Washington blockbuster in its first two days of release on Prime Video. Featuring an ensemble cast of young male stars, Warfare was based on a real-life incident experienced by Mendoza, who served in the Iraq War. The movie made a little over $30 million worldwide against a reported budget of $20 million.

According to FlixPatrol, Warfare was the fourth-biggest film on Prime Video on June 18, whereas Washington's The Equalizer 3 had to settle for the eighth spot. The Prime Video charts were topped by The Accountant 2, which recently debuted on streaming after grossing over $100 million worldwide. The number three spot was claimed by its predecessor, The Accountant, with...

Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 Set Photos Feature Charlie Cox, Krysten Ritter, And [Spoiler]
Image
Daredevil: Born Again was the Daredevil season 3 that most fans wanted, but if that was good, then it feels like the next batch of episodes will be great.

Showrunner Dario Scardapane will be in full control for Daredevil: Born Again season 2, meaning the series should feel more like the premiere and final two episodes than the truncated Muse arc or divisive bank robbery (which even Charlie Cox hated).

New photos from the show's New York set have surfaced today, this time showing Cox and Krysten Ritter on set (presumably before getting into costume as Matt Murdock and Jessica Jones). Michael Gandolfini, who plays Daniel Blake, was also spotted, suggesting these three might share the screen at some point.

If so, that feels like it could be a huge moment, hence the spoiler tag above. Could it be that Blake is finally realising that the Kingpin of Crime is not the...

Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 Set Photos Reveal New Look At Krysten Ritter's Return As Jessica Jones
Image
The first season of Daredevil: Born Again ended with the Man Without Fear readying his few allies to take down Mayor Wilson Fisk and free New York. However, he's gonna need more than just Karen Page and a few honest cops to do so.

Last month, we learned that Krysten Ritter will reprise her role as Jessica Jones in season 2. We haven't seen her play the character since Jessica Jones ended with its third batch of episodes on Netflix in 2019, so she becomes the second Defender to join the MCU.

A new look at Ritter in costume as the hard-boiled P.I. has been revealed today, and it's as if she hasn't aged a day. The actor is expected to have a major role as Jessica in Daredevil: Born Again season 2, and like Jon Bernthal's Punisher, there's every chance she'll get a spin-off of her own down the line.

Daredevil: Born Again Star Charlie Cox On Matt's Season 2 Dynamic With Jessica Jones And A Defenders Plot Hole

Daredevil: Born Again season 1 ended with the Man Without Fear readying his few allies to take down Mayor Wilson Fisk and free New York. However, he'll need more than just Karen Page and a few honest cops by his side to do so.

Last month, it was confirmed that Krysten Ritter will reprise her role as Jessica Jones in season 2. She's since been spotted on set (you can see those snaps below), and Charlie Cox has broken his silence on reteaming with his Defenders co-star in an interview with Deadline.

"There’s a mutual respect for one another," he teased. "She finds him overly serious and too much of a choir boy, and he finds her to be crass and making light of too many serious situations; she’s more antihero than hero."

However, Cox has one big question about their reunion, which Daredevil: Born Again may or may not answer.

Daredevil: Born Again - Mike Colter Seemingly Teases His Return As Luke Cage As Dd's Army Takes Shape
Image
Season 2 of Daredevil: Born Again is still filming in New York, and both Mike Colter (Luke Cage) and Finn Jones (Danny Rand/Iron Fist) recently confirmed that they are currently in the Big Apple via respective social media posts.

Now, Colter has shared a more direct hint that he may be set to return as Luke Cage for the second season of the Disney+ revival series by posting an image of his character to his Instagram Stories.

We know that Krysten Ritter will be back as Jessica Jones, so it only makes sense that the Man Without Fear (Charlie Cox) would enlist more of his fellow Defenders for back-up.

After Mayor Wilson Fisk (Vincent D'Onofrio) declared martial law with the help of his anti-vigilante task force in the season 1 finale, Matt Murdock decided to fight back by assembling a team of his own. The line-up was lacking a bit of muscle,...

Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 Set Photo Reveals Karen Page's New Look - Is She Going To Suit Up?
Image
Daredevil: Born Again season 2 will see the Man Without Fear assemble a team of vigilantes to take the fight to the villainous Mayor Fisk. He'll once again have Karen Page by his side, a character who originally wasn't set to appear in the Disney+ revival.

The creative overhaul added the Daredevil star to the premiere and finale, and a newly surfaced set photo shows Deborah Ann Woll's fan favourite reporter looking quite a bit different. This isn't the first time we've seen her in disguise, but has she become a costumed vigilante?

Another recent set photo showed the new White Tiger, and nearby was a woman who had her face covered with a red mask. We now know that was Karen, leading to speculation among fans that she's also about to "suit up" as a costumed vigilante.

It's a fun theory, but we're pretty sure this is just Karen hiding her face,...

Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 Set Photo Reveals First Look At New MCU Vigilante From The Comics - Spoilers
Image
Daredevil: Born Again season 2 is still filming in New York, and a new set photo reveals a first look at Camila Rodriguez suited up as the McU's new White Tiger.

Her uncle, Hector Ayala, was shot and killed by Detective Cole North, a member of Mayor Fisk's Anti-Vigilante Task Force, after Matt Murdock cleared his name in court. In the season 1 finale, there was a hint that Angela might pick up where he left off, and that's been confirmed by this latest snap.

It's clearly a homemade costume, though we'd bet that her mask is made from the remnants of Hector's suit.

Angela does look to be wearing the magic amulet that gave her uncle powers, and we'd be shocked if Daredevil doesn't take her under his wing in season 2. The Man Without Fear was also a mentor to the comic book White Tiger. However, that version of Angela...

Finn Bennett Was Sure He Flubbed His Audition for ‘Game of Thrones’ Prequel Series
Image
It’s the morning after Chopard’s glamorous gala dinner at Carlton Beach during the Cannes Film Festival, and Finn Bennett is perched on a sofa high above the Croisette inside the luxury jeweler’s penthouse suite at Hôtel Martinez.

Alongside fellow honorees, the 26-year-old actor received a Chopard Trophy during the ceremony in front of an A-list crowd that included filmmaker Quentin Tarantino; jury members like Halle Berry, Jeremy Strong and president Juliette Binoche; and the woman assigned to hand over the trophies, Chopard godmother Angelina Jolie. Needless to say, Bennett needed a bit more time to process the fairy tale evening, one that came after turning heads in such roles as Alex Garland’s Warfare, Issa Lopez’s True Detective opposite Jodie Foster and Joe Barton’s Black Doves opposite Keira Knightley and Ben Wishaw.

His profile is set to grow exponentially in 2026 when HBO Max debuts the...

A24 'Elden Ring' Film From Alex Garland Eyeing 'Warfare' Star Kit Connor
Image
It was recently confirmed that A24 and Alex Garland(Ex Machina, Civil War) were developing an Elden Ring film produced by George R. R. Martin, but it seems the project is moving quicker than many anticipated. According to a new report, the big-budget production is keen on adding one of the young stars of the studio's new action war epic that released earlier this year. Elden Ring is based on the FromSoftware title that was directed by Hidetaka Miyazaki, known for his own work on the classic action fighting franchise Dark Souls.

Deadline reports A24 and Alex Garland are eying Warfare star Kit Connor to lead the upcoming Elden Ring video game adaptation. The trade outlet does not specify if Connor has been offered the part, nor if the filming schedule lines up with the actor's upcoming work. However, they emphasize that both Garland and Connor are passionate about joining forces on Elden Ring.

Showrunner Dario Scardapane recently took to social media to confirm that Daredevil: Born Again season 2 will premiere in March 2026. Daredevil: Born Again Is The Only Live-Action MCU Series Not To Make Nielsen's Top 10 Streaming Chart
Image
Though the show certainly had its share of detractors, Daredevil: Born Again was a big hit with critics (87% on Rotten Tomatoes), and seemed to be embraced by the majority of fans as one of Marvel's better Disney+ efforts.

We had also been led to believe that the Man Without Fear's revival series did pretty good numbers for the streaming service, but this doesn't seem to be the case.

Daredevil: Born Again has become the first live-action Marvel Studios series not to make Nielsen's Top 10 Original Streaming Shows List. The only other Marvel streaming titles to fail to find their way onto the list were animated.

Born Again is also the second live-action MCU Disney+ show not to make Nielsen's overall top 10 after Secret Invasion.

There are likely a number of factors involved with the show failing to find a bigger audience, but Born Again was unusually violent for a Marvel series,...

Daredevil: Born Again Set Photos Reveal First Look At Krysten Ritter As The Returning Jessica Jones
Image
We recently got confirmation that Krysten Ritter would be making her return as Jessica Jones for the second season of Daredevil: Born Again, and the actress was spotted filming scenes alongside co-star Charlie Cox in these latest set photos.

Miss Jones hasn't updated her wardrobe since we last saw her on Netflix, and is still rocking the signature blue jeans and leather jacket combo. Cox, meanwhile, is sporting the Man Without Fear's back costume with the red "Dd" chest logo.

The Defenders had its share of issues, but the often contentious relationship between Jones and Daredevil was a definite highlight, so it should be interesting to revisit their dynamic in the MCU.

Daredevil: Born Again Star Charlie Cox On Potential Big-Screen Return & [Spoiler]'s Death
Image
By now, we're sure the majority of you have seen Daredevil: Born Again, but just in case, here's your spoiler warning.

Matt Murdock's long-time friend and partner Foggy Nelson (Elden Henson) was assassinated by Bullseye in the pilot episode, prompting Murdock to hang up the horns... until he's compelled to suit-up again to battle crime and corruption in New York City later on in the season.

The decision to kill off such a beloved character did not sit well with some fans, but Cox believes it was necessary to "shake things up" a bit and give the story some genuine stakes.

"The awful thing that happens in Born Again, that was the gift for me as the actor, was the death of Foggy. I mean, tragic in terms of the show loses an element that, I think, was the heartbeat of Daredevil," said Cox during a new interview with SAG-AFTRA.

Image
After months of rumors and speculation, we recently got confirmation that Krysten Ritter will return as Jessica Jones for the second season of Daredevil: Born Again, but will the Man Without Fear (Charlie Cox) get some back up from the rest of his fellow Defenders?

Punisher Special Presentation Starring Jon Bernthal Reportedly Casting For A Female Villain

After leaving his ultra-violent fingerprints on Daredevil: Born Again, Frank Castle is set to return for his own Disney+ Punisher Special Presentation.

Star Jon Bernthal will co-write the script with his We Own This City director Reinaldo Marcus Green, who is also on board to helm the Special.

Winderbaum went on to reveal that the idea for a Punisher standalone story manifested during production on Born Again, which saw Matt Murdock team-up with his old frenemy to take down members of Wilson Fisk's anti-vigilante task force.

The new war movie from filmmaker Alex Garland has pulled off a major box office feat for A24. Garland began his career as a novelist, but he broke into film when his 1996 novel The Beach was adapted into a movie in 2000. Although the adaptation was written by John Hodge (Trainspotting), Garland later collaborated with The Beach director Danny Boyle, writing the screenplays for his movies 28 Days Later, Sunshine, and the upcoming 28 Years Later.

Eventually, the roster of Alex Garland movies began to expand even more. After writing the screenplay for 2012's Dredd, he made his feature-length directorial debut with the 2014 sci-fi movie Ex Machina, which he also wrote. He then went on to both write and direct the 2018 Jeff VanderMeer adaptation Annihilation, the 2022 horror movie Men, and the 2024 dystopian thriller Civil War in addition to creating the FX series Devs, for which he wrote and directed all eight episodes.

Daredevil: Born Again Star Lili Taylor Reveals Season 2 Role; Says Show Deals With "Power, Authoritarianism"
Image
When The Conjuring and Outer Range star Lili Taylor was announced as being part of the Daredevil: Born Again cast, it was said that she'd be a political foil to Vincent D'Onofrio's Mayor Wilson Fisk.

Talking to Rural Intelligence about her new book, Turning to Birds: The Power and Beauty of Noticing, Taylor spilt the beans on her role. "I’m the Governor, which is great," the actor confirmed. The New York Governor was mentioned in the season 1 finale, though Commissioner Gallo never managed to reach her (what with the Kingpin crushing his head and all).

Taylor would go on to say that her scenes take place primarily in Albany. "I know Albany, and I know the politics there. We’ve got a set for inside, and then we did the outside at this really nice place in Tarrytown—that was the governor’s house."

Asked to expand on her MCU experience,...

Krysten Ritter Will Officially Return As Jessica Jones In Daredevil: Born Again Season 2
Image
It's been confirmed at the Disney Upfronts today that Krysten Ritter will reprise her role as Jessica Jones in Daredevil: Born Again season 2. This marks The Defenders star's official MCU debut.

Ritter joined Charlie Cox on stage at the event to announce her return, telling those in attendance, "It’s so great to be back, returning to Jessica after three seasons and ‘The Defenders' and now joining the MCU. I’m so excited to bring back this iconic character, and without giving too much away, there is much more in store for Jessica Jones. This is going to be an incredible season!"

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Daredevil: Born Again was a hit for Disney+ as the series was a "solid performer" that "[notched] an uptick" with the finale. It also gave the Netflix-era Daredevil seasons a boost on the platform.

Talking to the trade, Marvel Television boss Brad Winderbaum said,...

Daredevil: Born Again Star Charlie Cox Officially Reveals Whether He'll Appear In Avengers: Doomsday
Image
When Charlie Cox first starred in Daredevil, Marvel Television was a (mostly) separate entity from Marvel Studios. That meant the odds of his Man Without Fear showing up in theaters were slim (though it didn't stop fans hoping the Defenders might walk through one of Avengers: Endgame's portals).

Cox has since been brought into the MCU, appearing in Spider-Man: No Way Home, She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, and Echo, before taking centre stage in Daredevil: Born Again earlier this year.

Marvel Studios' approach to its streaming offerings has changed over the past year or two, and it seems there will be a more definitive line between big and small screen characters. As a result, Matt Murdock may remain solely on Disney+ rather than swinging into Avengers: Doomsday and Spider-Man: Brand New Day, for example.

Cox has repeatedly said that he'd like to assemble alongside Earth's Mightiest Heroes, but asked...

Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 Star Matthew Lillard Teases His MCU Role: "Hopefully, They Bring Him Back..."
Image
Matthew Lillard is no stranger to franchise fare, and he'll make his MCU debut in Daredevil: Born Again season 2. So far, the actor is the biggest new addition to the Disney+ series, though there's no word on who the actor is playing.

Lillard is used to keeping secrets; he'll return as Stu in Scream 6 and will similarly rise from the dead in the Five Nights at Freddy's sequel.

Talking to ComicBook.com, the screen icon was asked what he could share about his Daredevil: Born Again role. "It’s Marvel, so nothing," he said with a laugh. "I think that Marvel clamps down even harder than Star Wars, but I will say I am in the universe."

"It’s kind of a small role right now," Lillard added, "but hopefully people like it, and they bring him back in some capacity." So, we know he survives and is a character...

Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 Set Photos Reveal Big Change To Matt's Costume And More Bullseye - Spoilers
Image
Daredevil: Born Again has resumed filming in New York, and we now have another round of set photos from the show's upcoming second season.

It appears Daredevil (Charlie Cox) and Bullseye (Wilson Bethel) are teaming up, perhaps becoming unlikely allies in a New York now ruled over by Mayor Wilson Fisk with an iron fist. It's not like the Man Without Fear hasn't worked with a killer before (see: The Punisher).

These photos reveal a new look at the bullseye logo that's been added to the villain's mask, and more changes to Daredevil's suit. We previously theorised that he paints his red suit black, and it seems that's wearing off as time passes.

Previous set photos only showed glimmers of red, whereas there are now large patches coming through. Fortunately, the iconic "Dd" logo remains.

There's also some cool graffiti reading, "Resist, Rebel," and the top of the Rs are...

“Breaking Bad is Number 2”: Ben Affleck and Jon Bernthal’s Best TV Show of All Time Is James Gandolfini’s Masterpiece, The Sopranos
Image
Jon Bernthal and Ben Affleck came together for a sequel to The Accountant, and the film is receiving some good reviews from critics and fans alike. Affleck, who earlier donned Dceu’s Batman role, and Bernthal, best known for MCU’s Punisher, play brothers in the film that ups the stakes from its prequel.

During a promotional interview, Affleck and Bernthal discussed their ‘greatest-of-all-time’ show. They both agreed on one show that is at the top of their list. It was David Chase’s mafia-based series The Sopranos, starring the late James Gandolfini. We also got to know what shows these two actors had next on their Goat list.

David Chase Wasn’t Sure James Gandolfini Was ‘Threatening Enough’ to Play Tony Soprano
Image
“The Sopranos” creator David Chase almost passed on casting James Gandolfini in the lead role because the late actor didn’t seem “threatening enough” to play mob boss Tony Soprano.

In an excerpt published by Vulture of Jason Bailey’s book “Gandolfini: Jim, Tony, and the Life of a Legend,” Gandolfini’s former manager, Nancy Sanders, remembered how Chase was hesitant to offer Gandolfini the role.

“I went, ‘Oh my God, I think I have Tony Soprano,’” Sanders said. However, Chase allegedly told Sanders at the time, “I have one concern, and that is, is he threatening enough?”

IndieWire has reached out to representatives for Chase and HBO.

Sanders recalled telling Chase at the time, “David, if your only concern is, ‘Is he threatening enough’…If you said to me, ‘He’s a little chubby,’ or ‘He’s losing his hair,’ I could understand. But he’s threatening enough. This is your guy.

‘Warfare’ Rumbles Past Global Box Office Milestone After Recovering Production Budget
Image
After completing two full weeks of release, A24’s acclaimed new thriller Warfare has recovered its reported budget through its domestic box office revenue alone. The movie was co-directed byAlex Garland and the Iraq War veteran Ray Mendoza, andwas always a difficult sell. Films set against the backdrop of the Iraq War have historically struggled at the box office. That being said, Warfare was able to overtake the Best Picture winner The Hurt Locker, which made $17 million in its theatrical run 15 years ago. Interestingly, the movie also found an audience in middle America, which suggests that it’ll likely become a popular choice for viewers on home video.

With $22 million domestically and over $2 million from overseas markets, the movie’s cumulative global haul now stands at nearly $25 million. Warfare hasn’t really begun its overseas roll-out yet, meaning that there is room for growth. The film was produced on a reported budget of $20 million,...

David Chase Once Worried James Gandolfini Was Not “Threatening Enough” to Play Tony Soprano

The Sopranos creator David Chase once questioned whether James Gandolfini had the right presence to portray the troubled mob boss Tony Soprano, according to a new book excerpt. Jason Bailey’s Gandolfini: Jim, Tony, and the Life of a Legend explores the casting process that ultimately led to one of television’s most iconic performances.

Nancy Sanders, one of Gandolfini’s managers, recalled in the excerpt that after reading the pilot script for The Sopranos, she immediately thought of Gandolfini for the role. “I went, ‘Oh my God, I think I have Tony Soprano,’” Sanders said. However, Chase expressed a hesitation after reviewing Gandolfini’s acting reel.

“Alright, here’s the deal,” Chase told Sanders. “I think he’s brilliant. I have one concern, and that is: Is he threatening enough?” Sanders, surprised by the comment, responded with confidence. “David, if your only concern is is he threatening enough… If you said to me,...

Daredevil: Born Again Star Vincent D'Onofrio Calls Woke Agenda Criticisms "Absolute Nonsense"
Image
Though it does seem to be a small minority of fans, Marvel Television's Daredevil: Born Again has received backlash for propagating a "woke agenda." The main reasons for this seem to stem from the perception that the show is anti-conservative and anti-cop, while also sidelining established characters such as Foggy Nelson and Karen Page in favor of more diverse supporting players.

One fan is under the impression that season 2 of the Disney+ revival series is going to double-down on the wokeness, and tagged star Vincent D'Onofrio (Wilson Fisk) in an X post.

The actor was having none of it!

This is absolute nonsense," D'Onofrio replied. "We are not doubling down on any such thing. This statement is just not so. If there was any truth to it, i think I would know. We are telling Daredevil stories. We are not pushing any agenda other than making a Kick ass superhero drama.

Michael Gandolfini Reveals How His Father Protected Him on the Set of 'The Sopranos'
Image
Michael Gandolfini is a brilliant actor and, much like our collective love and appreciation for Cooper Hoffman, his work also comes with the reminder that his father was the late, great James Gandolfini. Known for his role as Tony Soprano in the hit HBO series The Sopranos, it put the Gandolfini name on the map and now the young actor is sharing how his father's past worked helped inspire him. Or, more accurately, how his lack of ability to watch his dad filmingThe Sopranos helped him to become his own kind of actor.

Gandolfini was talking with The Wall Street Journalwhen he shared that he used to go to the set of The Sopranoswith his parents, but he wasn't allowed to leave his father's trailer. Which, given the context of The Sopranos and how young Gandolfini was during the show's run, it makes sense. "When I’d visit him on the Sopranos set,...

Daredevil: Born Again Character Poster Spotlights Jon Bernthal As The Punisher
Image
With all nine episodes of Daredevil: Born Again now streaming on Disney+, Marvel Television has released what we assume will be the final character poster for the series, with Frank Castle, aka The Punisher (Jon Bernthal), getting the spotlight.

Castle didn't have a huge role in Born Again, but he certainly made an impact, teaming up with the Man Without Fear (Charlie Cox) in the finale to unleash hell on Kingpin's (Vincent D'Onofrio) Avtf.

Towards the end of "Straight to Hell," the Punisher decides to take on Mayor Wilson Fisk's forces alone. After brutally dispatching a number of corrupt cops, Castle is overwhelmed (whether he always planned to be captured is up for debate) and locked in one of Kingpin's holding cells.

In the post-credits sequence, Frank tricks his guard into approaching the cage before pulling his arm through the bars and snapping it. This will presumably facilitate Frank getting out of his cell,...

‘Daredevil: Born Again’ Writer Just Confirmed a Major Details About Matt and Heather’s Relationship in Season 2
Image
The first season of Daredevil: Born Again has come and gone, but creatives from the series are still providing insight about where the show is heading in Season 2. The Daredevil: Born Again Season 1 finale saw Matt (Charlie Cox) reunite with Karen Page (Deborah Ann Woll) and Frank Castle (Jon Bernthal) to take on Wilson Fisk’s (Vincent D’Onofrio) Avtf (Anti-Vigilante Task Force). But things don’t go as planned when Fisk gets the upper hand, and the season ultimately ends with Matt stepping back into the shadows. Matt’s girlfriend, Heather (Margarita Levieva), also accepts a position as Fisk’s mental health czar in his new administration, and during a recent interview with TV Insider, Daredevil: Born Again showrunner Dario Scardapane confirmed this has left a split between them heading into Season 2:

"We have a character like Daniel Blake [Michael Gandolfini] who’s under the wing of Fisk, which...

'The Board Is Completely Set:' Daredevil: Born Again Director Teases Season 2's Kingpin Arc
Image
Daredevil: Born Again director Aaron Moorhead recently hinted at what fans can expect from the upcoming second season of the Disney+ revival. Moorhead previously worked with Marvel Studios on 2022’s Moon Knight and 2023’s Loki Season 2.

During a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Moorhead opened up about the aftermath of the Born Again Season 1 finale, teasing the titular hero’s next step against Wilson Fisk’s totalitarian rule over New York City. "The end of Season 1 is a tragedy of some kind," he explained. "And while it’s not exactly a full-blown stand-up-and-cheer moment as there’s very mixed emotions in those final seconds, you get the sense that there’s a building of a resistance."

"So that is the kernel of where Season 2 is going to go," Moorhead continued. "The board is completely set in which Mayor Fisk has now become Kingpin again, but with New York in his grasp,...

Warfare Wows: Alex Garland’s Gritty Iraq War Epic Becomes A24’s Latest Power Play With 94% Fresh Score & Star-Studded Cast
Image
Alex Garland’s Gritty Iraq War Epic slays at box office (Photo Credit – Instagram)

Alex Garland shook things up last year when he catapulted indie darling A24 into blockbuster territory. Civil War, his chilling dystopian ride, thundered past the $100 million mark globally, with nearly $70 million of that coming from American audiences alone.

It was the most ambitious and expensive production A24 had ever gambled on, clocking in at a hefty $50 million budget. Garland wasn’t done though. This year, he linked up again with the studio, this time teaming up with Ray Mendoza, a real-deal Iraq War veteran, for a new war thriller that turned heads before it even left the gate.

From Civil War to Warfare: A Tactical Shift

Warfare, leaner in budget but rich in tension, dropped with a modest $20 million price tag. Critics greeted it like an overdue storm, yet its box office rollout started with a...

'Warfare' Box Office Overtakes Iraq War Thriller With 96% Rotten Tomatoes Score
Image
Director Alex Garland initiated an evolution for the indie distributor A24 last year, with his dystopian thriller Civil War grossing over $100 million globally and nearly $70 million in stateside theaters. Civil War was the most expensive film produced by A24, with a reported budget of $50 million. Garland and A24 reunited this year for the acclaimed thriller Warfare, which he co-directed with the Iraq War veteran Ray Mendoza. Produced on a smaller budget of $20 million, the movie opened to excellent reviews but found it difficult to match Civil War’s performance in its box office debut.

This weekend, the movie added almost $5 million to its domestic total, which now stands at over $17 million. Warfare has now overtaken fellow Iraq War thriller The Hurt Locker domestically. Released in 2009, The Hurt Locker won the Academy Award for Best Picture, and grossed almost $50 million worldwide. Warfarehasn’t quite been unleashed overseas as yet, which means...
