Mark Blane is a bi-coastal actor, director and writer originally from Indiana. They are known for directing, writing, producing and starring in the 16mm feature film CUBBY which premiered In Competition at Torino LGBTQI. CUBBY played a limited theatrical run in NY/LA after playing 30+ festivals including Inside Out Toronto (Innovation Award Nominee), Frameline (Best First Feature Nomination), OutFest and NewFest (NY Centerpiece). Grant support includes Kodak, Leslie Lohman Museum for Lesbian and Gay Art, Gotham Narrative Film Lab, Formfunction and Brooklyn Arts Council. Mark wrote and directed GHOST BIKE (LA Pan African Film Festival Premiere) acting alongside Tamara Tunie. His Portuguese iPhone-shot pilot ASSASSINO AMERICANO AMNÉSICO premieres in competition in Italy in 2023. He plays "Zack" in 6 episodes of the JJ Abrams produced AppleTV+ show LITTLE VOICE, directed by Jessie Nelson (I AM SAM) and Chris Storer (THE BEAR). Mark's also the lead in the Daniel Lewinstein's THE APOLOGY. His performances on screen have been alongside talents such as Patricia Richardson, Becky Ann Baker, and Brittany O'Grady.

Blane has been lauded by the LA Times, IndieWire, The Advocate, and more. Fresh Tomato reviews remarked "Mark's performance is kaleidoscopic and engrossing" and "Think Zach Galifianakis meets James Bidgood with a dash of 1990s Gus Van Sant." Mark's play, THE ROCK & THE RIPE, was commissioned by Hetrick-Martin Institute and Rosie O'Donnell's Theater Kids. He's taught filmmaking to seniors through the SU-CASA program across Brooklyn, and he's also been a visiting artist at Syracuse University, Virginia Tech, and Northwestern University.

He is repped as an actor theatrically and commercially by Tyler Kahl at Allegory and Nelson Paredez and Garrett Lindsay at The ESI Network.

SELECT REVIEWS:

"Everything hinges on Blane's performance. Open and emotional and in-your-face."- Eye on Film, Fresh Tomato Review, "He may be a dork, but his pure intentions make even his most transgressive behaviour seem innocent...It's also disarmingly entertaining to follow Mark on this odyssey." - Rich Cline, Fresh Tomato Review. "Blane is unquestionably fascinating and so completely absorbed in his character" - Roger Dack, Edge Media, "Fresh" - LA Times, "Similar to Tim Robinson or Will Ferrell...Joyous anarchy!" - Fresh Tomato, Queer Essential

"Mark Blane is not only the director and screenwriter of the film, but also the actor playing the protagonist alter-ego, as did Xavier Dolan in his earliest and most intimate works that consecrated him a very successful queer author and celebrity. Cubby, therefore, could anticipate the birth of a new personality in the future of American queer cinema or, at least, a new name worth watching in its ranks." - Cinefilia Ritrovata, Bologna, Italy
