Dennis Zanatta, ABC is a Director of Photography with over two decades of experience in film, television, and commercial production. A native of São Paulo, he brings a distinctive visual sensibility shaped by his upbringing in one of South America's most dynamic cities.
Since earning his Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in Cinematography from the American Film Institute Conservatory in 2015, Dennis has been based in Los Angeles, where he continues to build a diverse body of work. His recent credits include the feature films Loulou, Detained, and Young. Wild. Free., the latter of which premiered at the 2023 Sundance Film Festival-where he served as a additional Cinematographer. He has also lensed numerous commercials and award-winning documentaries.
Dennis is a distinguished member of the Brazilian Society of Cinematographers (ABC), a mark of professional excellence and artistic achievement in the field. He is also a Local 600 union Director of Photography, a certified Steadicam and camera operator, and a member of the Society of Camera Operators (SOA).
His work on the series In Absentia earned him the Best Cinematography Award at the Indie Series Awards; the series is currently streaming on Amazon Prime. In 2024, he shot Kid Ugly for the McDonald's Spotlight Dorado competition, along with For Years to Come-both films have been selected by multiple U.S. film festivals this year.
Dennis's international recognition includes participation in the Kyoto Filmmakers Lab (Japan, 2016), and his selection for Film Independent's Project Involve, a signature diversity program, in 2017. He is also an alumnus of Tomorrow's Filmmakers Today, presented by HBO, and the Emerging Content Creators Workshop, organized by NALIP.
A proud Latino and native Portuguese speaker, Dennis is fluent in both Spanish and English. He is known for his collaborative spirit and ability to craft visually compelling narratives that serve the heart of each story. His passion for visual storytelling, combined with his multicultural background and technical expertise, makes him a valuable creative partner on any production.
