Mary C. Russell is a genre and commercial film director and director of photography.

Originally from the Bay Area, Russell moved to Singapore at ten years old but now resides on the West Coast in the United States.

She went to Columbia College Hollywood graduating in 2014 with a BFA in Film Production, Majoring in Directing.

Russell directed, wrote, and produced the female horror slasher short film, Carved, which went to the screen at the NewFilmmakers LA film festival in 2015 and at the 2016 Days of the Dead convention as part of the Etheria Film Night.

"Carved" also got picked up by an Independent Distribution company, And the short is now streaming on Amazon Prime.

The short film drew it's inspiration from "Vanishing Point" and Quentin Tarantino's "Death Proof." The plot revolves around the soul of a satanic inmate that possesses innocent people on the road to Las Vegas for a weekend of debauchery. To quote Brian De Palma "I do like directing other people's material." :)

Outside of directing films, Russell has worked in production and in genre script development. She regularly works as a cinematographer and director on commercials, music videos, and narrative content.
