Funny First Trailer for Canadian Coming-of-Age Comedy 'Drinkwater'
Image
"Rejection is just a part of life. It's okay." Levelfilm in Canada has debuted an official trailer for an indie coming-of-age comedy titled Drinkwater, which premiered at a few Canadian festivals last year. It won the 2021 Telus Audience Choice Award for Canadian Narrative at the Calgary Film Festival. Drinkwater is described as a coming-of-age story in the John Hughes tradition. Mike Drinkwater is lost. His father, Hank, is hardly the role model Mike deserves. A young woman moves to town, and their friendship gives them the courage to overcome their challenges. Director Stephen S. Campanelli has made a "fun, quirky, small-town coming-of-age story. Set in 2020, the film still captures the nostalgia of the ’80s, filled with a great cast and Canadiana written all over it." Starring Daniel Doheny and Eric McCormack as the two Drinkwaters, with Louriza Tronco, Alex Zahara, Jordan Burtchett, and Naika Toussaint. This looks way better than it sounds!

Han will also serve as co-showrunner alongside Sascha Rothchild, whose notable works include "Glow" and "The Baby-Sitters Club."

Read more about the upcoming "Xo, Kitty" series, including what we know about the cast and the premiere date.

What Is the "To All the Boys" Spinoff About?

You're Not Imagining It - John Ambrose Was in Tatbilb, and He Wasn't Played by Jordan Fisher
We know it's been a hot second since To All the Boys I've Loved Before first dropped on Netflix, so it's understandable if you forgot that John Ambrose McClaren in the first movie was a completely different actor from the one in the sequel. In To All the Boys: P.S. I Still Love You, the role was played by Jordan Fisher instead of Jordan Burtchett, who was in the first film. Were the filmmakers hoping we'd just forgotten that John Ambrose showed up at Lara Jean's (Lana Condor) door with her long-lost love letter at the end of the first movie? And that we wouldn't notice that these Jordans are two very different people?

The Tatbilb filmmakers never specifically said why they chose to recast the role, and Burtchett hasn't said much on the topic either. He shared his gratitude for his fans in a lengthy Instagram post after the recasting news last year,...

Lara Jean Finds Her Heart Torn in Two in the First Trailer For P.S. I Still Love You
"Covinsky" is back, and even though they're smack dab in yet another love triangle, they're still as adorable as ever! The trailer for Netflix's highly anticipated sequel to To All the Boys I've Loved Before is here and it does not disappoint. There's romance, drama, an impeccable wardrobe, and of course, those pesky letters.

To All the Boys: P.S. I Still Love You picks up immediately after the ending of the first film, with Lara Jean (Lana Condor) and Peter (Noah Centineo) deciding to give dating a real shot, and John Ambrose McClaren (formerly played by Jordan Burtchett), Lara Jean's childhood crush from Model Un, popping up after receiving one of Lara Jean's infamous letters. Now portrayed by Grease Live's Jordan Fisher, the trailer shows that there's no mistaking John Ambrose's mission: he's here to steal Lara Jean away. And we hate to say it, we hope we don't sound ridiculous,...

‘To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before’ Sequel Recasts Key Role With ‘Rent: Live’ Star Jordan Fisher
The sequel to Netflix’s “To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before” has made some significant changes behind the scenes from the first movie, but switching out one of Lara Jean’s love interests has caused quite an uproar. Talented actor, dancer, and singer Jordan Fisher has been cast as the charming John Ambrose, a move that has created mixed feelings for fans.

In the first film, Lara Jean Covey’s (Lana Condor) childhood love letters that she had no intention of mailing get leaked to her five crushes during her junior year in high school. She eventually ends up dating one of the boys, Peter Kavinsky (Noah Centineo), but during the end credits, John Ambrose (Jordan Burtchett) shows up on her doorstep with one of the incriminating letters.

Fisher’s casting is a surprise for fans who had expected Burtchett to reprise his role as John Ambrose, a potential rival for Peter.

Got a scoop request? An anonymous tip you’re dying to share? Send any/all of the above to askausiello@tvline.com

Question: Saw the Instagram pic of you Kristen Bell on the set of the Veronica Mars revival! Any scoop?Anything at all? —Dawn

Ausiello: While snooping around Neptune, I was devastated to learn that Hulu will not permit Veronica (or anyone else in the Mars universe) to drop an F-bomb at any point during the eight-episode run. I was really hoping the streaming world’s looser standards would allow Kristen Bell’s gloriously sardonic and cynical sleuth to...

Lana Condor in À tous les garçons que j'ai aimés (2018)
Dumplin' Heartthrob Luke Benward Just Might Play John Ambrose in the Tatbilb Sequel
Lana Condor in À tous les garçons que j'ai aimés (2018)
After the credits for To All the Boys I've Loved Before start to roll, the Netflix rom-com slips in an extra scene that hints at what's to come for Lara Jean: the reappearance of one of her childhood crushes, John Ambrose McClaren. Despite assuming that the letter Kitty secretly sent to him got lost in the mail, he shows up on the Covey family's doorstep with a bouquet and Lara Jean's letter, seemingly ready to profess his love. Peter Kavinsky (Noah Centineo) better watch out.

Now that we know the upcoming sequel to the film is officially in the works - which is tentatively being called To All the Boys I've Loved Before 2 (the second book in Jenny Han's bestselling series is titled P.S. I Still Love You) - you might be wondering how the new character fits into Lara Jean's life, but also who's going to play him.

By the end of Netflix’s “To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before,” it appeared that Lara Jean Song Covey (Lana Condor) had figured out all her boy problems. What began as a nightmare when her secret love letters somehow fell into the hands of her five crushes, resulted in a genuine relationship with one of them, Peter Kavinsky (Noah Centineo).

Of course, according to rom-com tradition, she first had to make her feelings known to him before they officially became a couple. The mutual declaration played out in true cinematic fashion in the football field where Peter had just finished lacrosse practice.

“I picked the football field and I will happily admit that ‘The Breakfast Club is one of my favorite movies and I loved the end of that movie and you feel so empowered,” director Susan Johnson, a confessed John Hughes fan, told IndieWire. “I wanted them...
