Kangana Ranaut in Rajjo (2013)
Rajjo Movie Review
Kangana Ranaut in Rajjo (2013)
Film: "Rajjo"; Cast: Kangana Ranaut, Paras Arora, Prakash Raj and Mahesh Manjrekar; Director: Vishwas Patil; Rating: *1/2 - falls flat.

Films about prostitutes, with or without a heart of gold, have fascinated filmmakers and viewers from the time Nargis and Meena Kumari did "Adalat" and "Pakeezah", respectively.

Then there was Sharmila Tagore carrying the concept of the pristine prostitute to the peaks of sublimity in Shakti Samanta's "Amar Prem".

With time, the concept of the prostitute with a halo has lost its sheen. Virginity and sexual sacrifices are no longer the sacrosanct commodities they once.

Censor board wants 'Rajjo' hero to 'grow up'
Kangana Ranaut in Rajjo (2013)
New Delhi, Nov 12: The Central Board of Film Certification (Cbfc) has advised the makers of forthcoming film "Rajjo" to raise the on-screen age of the movie's hero from 18 years to 21 years. Director Vishwas Patil respects the decision.

The movie, releasing Friday, features Kangana Ranaut as a 24-year-old nautch girl, who is seen getting married to a character named Chandu, who is aged 18.

This has not gone down well with the censors as the legal marriageable age for men in India is 21.

A source close to the film says the censor board conjectures that this will send out a wrong message to the youngsters,.

Kangana Ranaut in Rajjo (2013)
Rajjo takes on Leela
Kangana Ranaut in Rajjo (2013)
Now this was totally unexpected but it is happening. Ram Leela, the promo of which has just been unveiled, was all set to enjoy a solo release in the coming festive season. However, the film would now have company, what with Kangna Ranaut's Rajjo all set to clash with the Sanjay Leela Bhansali's musical drama.

"Makers of Rajjo, M.H. Shah and U.A. Karande, were waiting for an apt time to bring the film. Though Kangna plays a prostitute in the film, it isn't a grim affair by any means. Instead, it is a colourful affair as well and joins Ram Leela in painting the screen red. Pun intended," informs the source who called to share the developments.

Apparently, quite some thought was given before 15th November was decided as the release date for Rajjo, which would incidentally arrive just 12 days after Kangna would be seen kicking...
