If you’ve been following along with our Chicago Med content, you’d know that some of us aren’t big fans of Mitch Ripley.
We know some of you hate that, but we can’t help how we feel. It’s not everyone on our team, but the most vocal of us are Kendrick Lamar-level certified haters. Unapologetic about it, too. (Although we love Luke Mitchell!)
But do you know what I am a fan of? The potential maverick showdown between Ripley and veteran Will Halstead.

Love him or hate him, Drake isn’t showing signs of slowing down anytime soon. After suffering a blistering defeat in last year’s great Rap Civil War, he’s been methodically picking up the pieces, revitalizing his fanbase, and working to channel as much goodwill as he can. Luckily, long before Kendrick’s eviscerating diss track “Not Like Us” — now the subject of pending, probably misguided litigation — Drake was the biggest star in the world, perhaps only rivaled by Taylor Swift (The Boy says as much on “Red Button...

Drake has revealed 19 music videos for the $ome $exy $ongs 4 U single “Somebody Loves Me” with PartyNextDoor.
Drake and PartyNextDoor, alongside streamer Kai Cenat, a frequent Drake collaborator, held a contest in May that called on aspiring directors to submit music video treatments for the song, promising 20 finalists $15,000 to create a 30-second to one-minute-long clip of the song. “If you don’t know what a treatment is then…a treatment is an idea for a music video,” Cenat announced on his popular Twitch stream. “That is insane,” he added, excited about the opportunity.

Drake isn't only one of this generation's biggest hit-makers, he's also an avid collector of memorabilia, already purchasing some of Pharrell Williams' chains, including the famous 14-karat N.E.R.D. pendant that the Canadian rapper wore in his video for "Jumbotron S**t Poppin."
He also bought a chain that Frank Ocean wore at the 2021 Met Gala for $1.9 million and spent a little over $1 million at an auction for one of Tupac Shakur's rings.
Now, Drake has added another Shakur piece to his collection, a diamond-filled Death Row pendant, the same one that Shakur is wearing on the cover of his 1996 album, All Eyez on Me.

Drake is looking for ammunition in his defamation lawsuit against Universal Music Group over Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us.”
In a discovery bid, Drake, born Aubrey Graham, urged the court to force Umg and chief executive Lucian Grainge to turn over the label’s contract with Lamar, as well as information relating to allegations of domestic violence and other crimes committed by the Compton rapper.
Lamar (Interscope Records) and Drake (Republic Records) are represented by different divisions of Umg. Their rap battle turned to court earlier this year when the Toronto rapper claimed that Umg spread defamatory assertions that he’s a pedophile by making secret payments and offering reduced licensing rates to third parties to promote the song, with the goal of devaluing his music and brand amid contract negotiations.
The feud started with Drake’s 2023 J. Cole collaboration “First Person Shooter,” in which the pair proclaimed itself the “big three” alongside Lamar.

Drake’s ongoing lawsuit against Umg sought documents related to “allegations of domestic violence” against Kendrick Lamar, as well as communications between Lamar and Tde label boss Dave Free regarding Lamar’s children, in an apparent attempt to back up Drake’s own claims from the 2024 song “Family Matters.”
The requests came as part of the trial’s discovery period. In a letter dated June 3rd, Drake’s attorneys noted 75 requests for documents from Umg, asking the defendants to verify if any documents existed, and if so, to turn them over.

Kcon LA, a three-day convention and festival showcasing the best and brightest in Korean entertainment and culture, took over downtown Los Angeles during the first weekend in August. The annual gathering attracted 125,000 attendees, the same number that attends each weekend of industry staple Coachella. Despite the numbers and obvious impact, mainstream media was largely quiet. Unlike Coachella, Lollapalooza, and similar major U.S.-based festivals there were none of the typical burning questions posed in headlines: Did any of the performers just cement their Best New Artist Grammy bids? Are collaborations with major Western artists in the pipeline? Are any stars on the rise?
With the rare exception, when it comes to Korean artists, the U.S. awards establishment generally reacts with a shrug. But Kcon and its showcase artists are trying to change the narrative.

In an increasingly-saturated music festival market, there’s still no other festival quite like Outside Lands.
Synonymous with San Francisco, for the last 17 years, Outside Lands has taken over the city’s Golden Gate Park and hosted iconic performances from the likes of Kendrick Lamar, The Strokes, Green Day and Chappell Roan, while injecting more Bay Area DNA into the event each year. In 2018, it became one of the first major music festivals to offer the sale of marijuana, while last year, Outside Lands added a “City Hall” where festivalgoers can get legally married, an homage to the 2004 “Winter of Love” where San Francisco offered the first same-sex marriage licenses in U.S. history.
“This is a like never ending art project for us is how we think about it,” Rick Farman, who co-founded the festival with Bay Area concert promoter Another Planet Entertainment through his promotion company Superfly. “It’s always constantly evolving.

At first glance, the new Paramount has a 2026 slate that looks a little bare – only five films slated for release. But studio insiders told TheWrap on Thursday that three other films that are deep in post-production are on course for release in 2026.
The first is “Heart of the Beast,” a survival thriller from “Suicide Squad” director David Ayer starring Brad Pitt as an Army special forces vet who must survive in the Alaskan wilderness with his retired combat dog after a plane crash. Also starring J.K. Simmons and with Damien Chazelle as executive producer, it will mark Pitt’s first film since he set a new career high at the box office with Apple’s “F1.”
The other two films are a pair of horror projects from Paramount’s production deal with 18hz, the company founded by former DC Films chief Walter Hamada after his exit from the superhero label: “Primate,...

Beyoncé fans might finally get to see her at the Emmy Awards this year!
Although the 43-year-old “Texas Hold ‘Em” singer has been nominated for an Emmy in the past, she has never attended the award show. For the 2025 Emmys, Beyoncé is once again nominated, this time for the Outstanding Variety Special (Live) category for her Beyoncé Bowl halftime show performance.
Although this category was previously going to be awarded during the Creative Arts Emmys, Deadline is reporting that the Television Academy has moved the category to the main telecast.
Keep reading to find out more…
The publication speculates that the move might have been to entice Beyoncé to attend the award show in case she takes home the award.
Beyoncé has some stiff competition in the category. She’s up against Kendrick Lamar‘s halftime show, SNL 50 which is nominated twice in the category, and The 2025 Oscars.

One of the (low-key) buzziest Emmy showdowns of the year just got promoted.
The race for Best Variety Special (Live) — featuring high-wattage contenders like Netflix’s Beyoncé Bowl and Peacock’s SNL 50: The Anniversary Special — was originally scheduled for the second night of the Creative Arts Emmys. Gold Derby has confirmed that the Television Academy has now moved it to the main Primetime Emmys telecast, airing Sept. 14 on CBS and streaming on Paramount+.
According to Gold Derby’s latest combined odds, SNL50: The Anniversary Special is the category front-runner, followed by Apple Music’s Super Bowl Lix Halftime Show starring Kendrick Lamar, The Oscars, Beyoncé Bowl, and SNL50: The Homecoming Concert — another tribute entry from the most Emmy-winning show in history.
That means Queen Bey will have to defy the odds — again — if she hopes to finally add Emmy gold to her crowded trophy case.
