Jasna Nanut

Born in Zagreb, Croatia, she graduated from the Zagreb Academy of Dramatic Art. Her debut feature, a dark comedy Sedmo nebo (2023), premiered at the Pula Film Festival in 2023, then opened the Zagreb Film Festival. She has also directed six short films. Her graduation film Playing the Tiger (2015) won the Oktavijan Award, the Croatian Society of Film Critics' prize for Best Short Film in 2016, followed by her first professional short film Tanya (2016), which received the same award a year later. Her sophomore feature, Birdie or What's the Matter, Sweetheart?, is currently in pre-production. She began her career in television, first working as a reporter from film festivals, then as the host of Trenutak istine (2008) and MasterChef Hrvatska (2011), as well as a screenwriter and director. Her sister Ivana Nanut also works in television, they started their careers together. She is the president of the Croatian Film Directors Guild.
