14 Celebrities Who Were Arrested in the Middle of a Performance or Production
Image
Getting stabbed in the neck is only the third-closest Steve Buscemi has ever come to dying.

14 Richard Pryor

Despite obscenity laws having been relaxed by then, Pryor was arrested for breaking a “foul language” ordinance directly after a show in what many have seen as a clearly racist act. It was the same year Blazing Saddles came out, and as comedy historian Kliph Nesteroff put it, “All the words that are in Blazing Saddles are the same words that he got arrested for saying onstage.”

13 Robert Downey Jr.

Downey was brought on to Ally McBeal after a stint in rehab and prison, because the show needed a bad boy for a ratings boost. It worked, but their bad boy got badder, and was arrested for drug-related offenses two more times before the show finally parted ways with him.

Image
This week, 20th Century Studios unveiled a new trailer for Predator: Killer of Killers, its animated anthology series from Prey director Dan Trachtenberg. This film will show the Predator clashing with various dangerous warriors throughout human history, such as Vikings, ninja, samurai, and World War II fighter pilots. It looks like an awesome time:

Predator: Killer of Killers come out on June 6, and promises to not only show fans how the Predator has interacted with humans throughout their history, but also possibly even tie in to Trachtenberg's upcoming live-action movie Predator: Badlands, which hits theaters in November. It's an exciting year for fans of the Predator franchise.

While many details are still under wraps for the movie, we do know the time periods and characters who will face the Predators in Killer of Killers: "a Viking raider guiding her young son on a bloody quest for revenge, a ninja...

Why Corporal Dwayne Hicks Was Recast in Aliens
Image
Building upon the first film by Ridley Scott, James Cameron's Aliens is one of the best sequels ever made. Featuring a more action-packed tone, it also featured even more of the deadly Xenomorph species. Another beloved part of Aliens was the cast, though this group of characters initially looked slightly different from what moviegoers are now used to.

Corporal Dwayne Hicks was a fan-favorite in the 1986 sequel movie Aliens, with the character being chief among the space marines in the films. Though he was played by Michael Biehn in the finished version, this isn't how it was initially meant to be. Recast as the movie itself was being shot, the role of Hicks is now synonymous with Biehn, who had actually worked with James Cameron beforehand.

Who Was Hicks In Aliens?

Corporal Dwayne Hicks was part of a unit sent to the planet Lv-426 in Aliens, with a representative...

People Cant Stop Watching James Camerons 94% Sci-Fi Sequel
Image
The sequel to what is well-regarded as one of the best and most influential sci-fi movies of all time is making major noise on streaming. Aliens, which was directed by James Cameron and is a direct sequel to Ridley Scott's Alien, has jumped into the top 10 movies on Hulu, currently sitting at the #3 spot. Aliens is likely enjoying a push from the success of Alien: Romulus, the most recent Alien film, which is set between Scott and Cameron's movies and has also been enjoying major success at the box office. Aliens stars Sigourney Weaver as Ellen Ripley, Paul Reiser as Burke, Michael Biehn as Corporal Hicks, Carrie Henn as Newt, and Bill Paxton as Private Hudson, and the film currently sits at nearly perfect and equal scores of 94% from both critics and audiences on Rotten Tomatoes.

The Long Legacy of ‘Alien’ Franchise Video Games
Image
When Ridley Scott unleashed Alien onto unsuspecting film fans way back in 1979, no one probably thought that the film would spawn a franchise that would take over the media landscape. Today, the franchise is still going strong, having conquered the box office, comics, novels, board games, action figures, and of course, video games.

With Fede Álvarez‘s Alien: Romulus set to invade theatres this week, it seems like a ripe opportunity to delve into the sea of video games that have spawned from the film franchise.

Really, there are a lot of games, both official and not-so-official. So, to keep this concise, we’ll look at official games that are directly related to the Alien franchise, keeping the Alien vs. Predator titles separate (for now).

Michael Biehn to Battle a Zombie Kangeroo in The Red
Image
The Red features a bulky zombie kangaroo named Rippy, set to become an iconic creature in horror. The film follows young sheriff Maddy tracking down undead beasts with help from her family. The film promises a wild ride, inspired by classic Aussie slang and pop culture, perfect for creature feature fans.

Michael Biehn, who starred in The Terminator, is returning to the big screen with The Red, a creature horror film featuring a bulky zombie kangaroo named Rippy. Described as "your average bloke by day, and a terrifying Zombie Kangaroo by night," Rippy will be central to the film, possibly becoming one of the most iconic creatures in horror.

Ryan Coonan's zombie film, based on his 2014 short film Waterborne, follows Maddy (Tess Haubrich), a young sheriff who is obsessed with living up to her deceased father's legacy. When the town's residents are found ripped to bits by an unknown creature,...

New Alien: Romulus Image Pays Homage To A Scene From James Cameron's Aliens
Image
EW has shared two new official promo stills for Alien: Romulus as part of their summer preview, and one of 'em pays homage to a scene from Aliens.

In James Cameron's follow-up to Ridley Scott's '70s classic, Corporal Hicks (Michael Biehn) shows Ripley (Sigourney Weaver) how to use a pulse rifle before the crew land in some real pretty sh*t with the attacking Xenomorphs, and the moment is recreated here with Archie Renaux's Tyler and Cailee Spaeny's Rain Carradine.

The second image gives us another look at a Xenomorph about to give an unfortunate crew member a very bad day.

While the previous movies focused on blue-collar colleagues, soldiers, and prisoners, director Fede Alvarez explains how Romulus will take a different approach by introducing a group of characters who have become as close as family.

“My first instinct, just to try something different that hasn't been seen before,...

Whatever Happened To Newt Actress Carrie Henn From Aliens?
Image
Fans will always debate which is the better film: Ridley Scott's 1979 sci-fi horror "Alien" or James Cameron's 1986 sci-fi actioner "Aliens." As important and influential as Scott's film was, Cameron upped the ante in terms of pure popcorn thrills, and a big part of that film's success was the character of Newt, played by Carrie Henn.

Living in Hadley's Hope settlement on Lv-426, the young girl became an orphan when her family was killed by the Xenomorphs that inhabited the moon. The infestation made its way to the rest of the colonists, but Newt, using her cunning, was able to survive, living in the facility's ventilation system. When Weyland-Yutani lost contact with the colony, they sent a squad of Marines, along with Ellen Ripley, herself the sole survivor of a previous encounter with the Xenomorph, to find out what happened. When their ranks were decimated by the Xenomorphs, Ripley...

Sci-Fi Actor Replacements That Were Actually For The Best
Image
It's all too easy to miss your big chance in Hollywood, whether it's by ending up in a flop through no fault of your own or missing the wrong phone call. It's a career tragedy that can happen to anyone, and it creates agonizing memories for stars still at the top of their careers. Just ask Bill Murphy about the time he did pick up his phone and wound up with a gig in "Garfield." That involved a mix-up over last names but it goes to show that anything can happen. To anyone.

The good news? Not every movie madness mixup ends in disaster. One star's missed call might be another's golden hour. A tragedy behind the scenes can create an opportunity for a fresh and far better take on a character. Science fiction definitely isn't exempt from Hollywood chaos, and in the case of some of our favorite movies,...

Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny Review: Harrison Ford Can’t Rewind the Clock
Image
“If I could turn back time…” Cher sang in 1989, coincidentally the same year that the last great Indiana Jones movie, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, came out. Rewinding the clock, both literally and figuratively, is very much on the minds of everyone involved in Indy’s fifth and apparently final adventure, Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, as an aging Dr. Jones confronts his mortality, his regrets, and the sum total of his life’s accomplishments.

So it’s somehow appropriate that the MacGuffin which lures Indy out of his pending retirement for one last globe-trotting adventure is a device invented by the ancient Greek mathematician and physicist Archimedes that might somehow alter the course of history. If our hero gets his hands on the device—which, naturally, has been split into three pieces—will he be tempted to tamper with it?

It’s an interesting idea, but...

The Best Michael Biehn Movies: Our Picks
Image
What more can be said about the great Michael Biehn? The man has been a part of most film fans’ lives for decades now and he seems to have no stopping in mind with a few films coming up soon. With one of these resumes that would make any actor jealous, there are a lot more Michael Biehn movies that are worth watching besides The Terminator and Aliens. He has shared screentime with everyone from Sigourney Weaver to Arnold Schwarzenegger to Kurt Russell to, well, you get the idea. Here are five of our favorite Michael Biehn films:

The Terminator (1984)

An absolute classic with unforgettable performances, this film by a fairly new to the scene James Cameron was a big gamble to take on, but for all involved it was a great career launcher. While Biehn wasn’t entirely new to the scene (he had starred in the cult classic...

“That Ship Has Sailed” – Sigourney Weaver Has Said Goodbye to Playing Ellen Ripley Again
Sigourney Weaver
It’s now been 26 years since Sigourney Weaver last played the role of Ellen Ripley in Alien Resurrection (1997), which was of course the fourth time Weaver’s Ripley battled Xenomorphs up on the big screen. Legacy sequels are all the rage for popular franchises at the moment, but will we ever see Sigourney Weaver as Ellen Ripley again? Don’t count on it, she says.

“There are all kinds of younger actors taking this kind of role. And there was an Alien [film] that I really wanted to do with Neill Blomkamp and we didn’t get to do that, but, you know, that ship has sailed,” Weaver tells Total Film this week.

The actress adds, “I’m very happy doing what I’m doing. I put in my time in space!”

The Blomkamp project would’ve been a sequel to James Cameron’s Aliens that would’ve brought back Ellen Ripley.

James Kirk
Xenomorphs and Space Jockeys Aren’t the Only Aliens in the Alien Universe
James Kirk
There is an odd phenomenon with fandom where “our idea of what a thing should be like” frequently obscures our memories, and even currently-happening-viewing-of the media itself. A great example of this is James Kirk, a character remembered as a promiscuous renegade, a cross between Chris Pine’s rebel-without-a-cause, and Zapp Brannigan. This perception exists despite the fact that for three years on NBC, William Shatner played a massive nerd and consummate professional who (despite maybe two serious romances that actually broke his heart) would list his relationship status as “commanding a starship.”

The Alien franchise is another example of this quirk. Alien is a movie and multimedia franchise named after the titular “Alien.” We remember it as humanity’s first encounter with alien life, and that alien life wanting to either kill or lay its eggs in us—which will then kill us later.

The popular imagination of the...
