Janis Valdez

Janis Valdez was raised in Long Beach, California. From the age of 6, she grew up doing musical theater, starring in shows such as Annie, Bye Bye Birdie and Beauty and the Beast. When she was 16, Janis originated the role of Dana in the world premiere of Camp Rock: The Musical. Soon after, she realized performing on screen was her next venture. Janis then went on to Barbizon, a school for acting and modeling. After graduating, she went to the IMTA convention, where she won first place in every acting and modeling category she performed in. From there, Janis started to audition for TV, film, and commercials. She started booking co-stars on shows like Suburgatory and Faking It. She then started to work as a guest star on shows like Crazy Ex Girlfriend and Criminal Minds, as well as working on many independent films. She has been up for many roles in her field, getting pinned for shows like Good Trouble, and testing for Veronica in Riverdale. Ultimately, Janis booked her first recurring role on the Freeform show, Famous in Love, opposite Keith Powers. In 2023, Janis was accepted into Hillman Grad, a prestigious mentorship created by Emmy award winner, Lena Waithe. Suspended due to the WGA and SAG strikes, the mentorship moved forward in 2024, guiding her career and connecting Janis to the next generation of writers and executives. Janis has since graduated Hillman Grad and is now looking forward to bringing a depth to her next roles and bringing more inclusivity to the screen.
