Polish alpinist and mountaineer, one of the world's most outstanding mountaineers. As the third woman in the world, the first European and the first person from Poland, she conquered the summit of Mount Everest, the highest peak on Earth. On June 23, 1986, as the first woman in the world and the first person from Poland, she conquered the summit of K2, the second highest peak on Earth.
