Much of the tension in the Netflix animated fantasy epic Arcane: League of Legends involves two potential mergers, both of them incredibly volatile. The first is the plan by inventor Jayce (Kevin Alejandro) to use technology to harness the power of his world’s bygone age of magic, in a combination he dubs “Hextech.” The second is the uneasy relationship between the neighboring communities of Piltover, opulent and allegedly utopian, and Zaun, Piltover’s neglected, crime-ridden underbelly. Piltover’s governing body warns Jayce about the danger of using arcane magic at all,...

At the end of Arcane Season One, Jinx (Ella Purnell) isn’t dead, per se, but Vi (Hailee Steinfeld) is mourning her sister nonetheless.
That’s because any hope that the old Powder (Mia Sinclair Jenness) still exists blew up with Jinx’s brutal attack on the council at the end of Arcane’s first season. After killing her father figure Silco (Jason Spisak), Jinx fires a massive rocket at Piltover’s governing body just as they finalize a vote for peace with sister city Zaun.
Season Two of the critically acclaimed animated series, premiering with Act One (now streaming on Netflix), followed by Act Two on Nov. 16 and Act Three on Nov. 23, finds Vi coming to terms with Jinx’s destructive act, which sends both cities hurtling toward war.
“Vi is really struggling with the loss of her sister,” Steinfeld tells Tudum. “[She’s] also realizing that she has a responsibility...

The TV academy has honored voice-only performances since 1992, when six cast members from “The Simpsons” collectively became the first actors to receive Emmys for such work. The Best Voice-Over Performance category became an official non-juried one in 2009 and was then split into two categories in 2014: Best Character Voice-Over and Best Narrator. Harry Shearer (“The Simpsons”) made history as the former category’s first champion, having been nominated once before for the same series.
The 2022 Best Character Voice-Over ballot list below consists of a whopping 222 performances. Seeking a third consecutive victory is Maya Rudolph, who plays Connie the Hormone Monstress on “Big Mouth.” Also in the mix are former winners Shearer, Hank Azaria (“The Simpsons”), Alex Borstein (“Family Guy”), and Seth MacFarlane (“Family Guy”).
Unlike the live action and fictional program nominees, which are chosen by all 22,000 plus academy members, the Best Character Voice-Over contenders are picked only by voters...

Exclusive: Mia Sinclair Jenness (Arcane) will star alongside Kunal Nayyar, Lucy Hale, Christina Hendricks, David Arquette and Scott Foley in The Storied Life of A.J. Fikry, an adaptation of Gabrielle Zevin’s New York Times bestselling novel, which is currently in production in Cape Cod.
The film directed by Hans Canosa follows the titular A.J. Fikry (Nayyar), whose life is not at all what he expected it to be. His wife has died, his bookstore is experiencing the worst sales in its history, and now his prized possession, a rare edition of Poe poems, has been stolen. Over time, he has given up on people, and even the books in his store, instead of offering solace, are yet another reminder of a world that is changing too rapidly. But when a mysterious package appears at the bookstore, its unexpected arrival gives Fikry the chance to make his life over and see things anew.

20th Century Fox and Chernin Entertainment's upcoming three-film adaptation of Goosebumps author R L Stine's teen horror book series Fear Street has been snatching up cast left and right over the past month. And today seems to be no different as this afternoon we got word that Ashley Zukerman, Fred Hechinger, Julia Rehwald, and Jeremy Ford have signed onto the series of flicks. No word on who they will be playing, or in which of the three planned films they will appear. Not only that but now it seems that Honeymoon director Leigh Janiak will be directing all three movies instead of parts 1 and 3 while Listen Up Philip and Queen of Earth writer-director Alex Ross Perry who was attached to helm the middle Fear Street sequel seems to have dropped out or been replaced.

Disney Junior got some fancy ratings for the premiere of its new toon series. The cable net said today that Fancy Nancy opened with 258,000 viewers and a 3.4 rating among girls 2-5, its best premiere in that target demo since Elena of Avalor on July 22, 2016.
The July 13 premiere of the series also was the No. 1 telecast of the week in the demo.
The family comedy, which was renewed more than a month ahead of its series bow, centers on Nancy (Mia Sinclair Jenness), a high-spirited 6-year-old whose zest and enthusiasm for all that is exquisite – including language, nature, art and color – transforms the ordinary into the extraordinary. Excited to experience what the magnificent world has to offer, Nancy uses her ingenuity and resourcefulness to exemplify that even if life doesn’t always go as planned, it’s important to make the most of each day and encourage others to do the same.
