    • Since 1996, Ben Swanson has been a partner and co-founder of the record labels Secretly Canadian, Jagjaguwar, and Dead Oceans, releasing such artists as The War on Drugs , Antony and the Johnsons as well as Grammy-winning Bon Iver.

      In 1998, Ben also co-founded SC Distribution, which has become the exclusive international distributor for his imprints as well as a clutch of other well respected independent labels and has since grown into the preeminent independent label distributor in the U.S. In 2011, Ben went on to co-found Fort William Artist Management, which represents such talents as Beirut, Grizzly Bear, Foxygen, and Jens Lekman. In 2013, he became a partner of the distinguished archival label Numero Group, which re-releases classic songs from several genres, including rock and soul. He was also an executive producer on four Rick Alverson films, including Entertainment, starring Michael Cera and John C. Reilly, and the award-winning The Comedy, starring Tim Heidecker.

      Originally from Fargo, North Dakota, Ben graduated from Indiana University with a degree in Ethnomusicology. He now lives in Bloomington, Indiana, having helped turn the Midwestern city into a launching pad for indie artists.
