There's 1 Mad Max Prequel Movie The Franchise Can Never Make After $380 Million Hit
Image
The mind-bending action of Mad Max: Fury Road made revisiting Max's past impossible due to the franchise's expanded scale. Max's origin doesn't need a full prequel; flashbacks within a larger film would provide enough insight into his past. The upcoming sequel Mad Max: The Wasteland may include flashbacks to Max's past, as the franchise has evolved too far for a Max origin story.

Mad Max: Fury Road expanded upon the desolate Wasteland established in George Miller's original Mad Max movies, but in doing so it made one obvious prequel concept all but impossible. Beginning with the original dystopian action film Mad Max in 1979, the Mad Max universe expanded over the course of two sequels in the 1980s: Mad Max 2 (The Road Warrior) and Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome. After a 30-year hiatus, the franchise expanded by leaps and bounds with Mad Max: Fury Road in 2015, providing a new level...

A trio of fans unite the highest members of the Shuchiin Academy student council in a Kaguya-sama: Love is War cosplay.

The cosplay, shared on Instagram, features the characters of Miyuki Shirogane, Kaguya Shinomiya and Chika Fujiwara, played by Novan, Himeka and Iotachann, respectively. It contains a shot of the trio in anime-accurate costumes and a few screenshots of the series. Fujiwara is pictured on the left performing a goofy pose, with Shirogane in the middle looking stoic and awkward and Shinomiya on the far right looking deviously at the camera.

Mad Max: Fury Road Almost Left One Iconic Character on the Cutting Room Floor
Image
Even after all the critical and commercial success it received, it is difficult to believe a movie like Mad Max: Fury Road actually got made. The film walks an extremely delicate tightrope between over-the-top action blockbuster and post-apocalyptic melodrama. There were so many bizarre elements to the story that would have been a difficult sell to the studio. One such element was the Doof Warrior, which director George Miller revealed during a recent interview for New York Times, almost got cut by Warner Bros. after the initial test screening.

"The Doof Warrior tested really badly at first. We had temp music, and whenever the Doof Warrior played in the test screening, it was the same riff, so it got annoying. A couple people at the studio said, 'Oh, we've got to drop the Doof Warrior.' I said, 'No no, it's way too early to even think of that,'"

The Doof Warrior,...

Tom Hardy and Charlize Theron Open Up About Fighting on ‘Mad Max: Fury Road’ Set
Image
“Mad Max: Fury Road” is often regarded as one of the best action films in movie history, but getting the project from the page to the big screen proved to be the most challenging undertaking for nearly everyone on set. The New York Times has published an oral history of “Fury Road” jam packed with behind-the-scenes insight into the making of the action epic, including scoop that Uma Thurman was eyed for Furiosa and Jeremy Renner performed screen tests as Max. But no part of the oral history is as juicy as Tom Hardy, Charlize Theron, and more of the cast reliving the onset feuding that occurred as a result of the massive production challenges. Hardy and Theron famously butted heads on set, and Theron told The Times that both actors were to blame for the tension.

“In retrospect, I didn’t have enough empathy to really, truly understand what...

George Miller Is Prepping ‘Mad Max: Fury Road’ Sequel, Reveals Doof Warrior Backstory
George Miller
George Miller has secured financing for his next movie, “Three Thousand Years of Longing,” and has set a March production start in Australia with stars Idris Elba and Tilda Swinton (via Deadline). The movie will be Miller’s first directorial feature since 2015’s “Mad Max: Fury Road.” While Miller is taking a “Mad Max” break, he confirmed to Deadline that he will multitask during the “Three Thousand Years of Longing” production to work on pre-production on the next “Mad Max” movie. Miller says he’s already prepping the “Fury Road” sequel.

“I’m not done with the Mad Max story and I think you have to be a multitasker, and there’s certainly another Mad Max coming down the pike after this,” Miller said. “We’re in preparation on that as well. It’s an interesting question, the idea of multitasking. I discuss this with other filmmakers and I think...

Two More Mad Max Sequels Will Eventually Happen, But It'll Be a Minute
Mel Gibson in Mad Max (1979)
A few years back Mad Max and The Road Warrior director George Miller unleashed the fourth entry in the Max Rockatansky saga with Mad Max: Fury Road starring Tom Hardy as Max and Charlize Theron as the mighty Imperator Furiosa. And today we have word from Miller himself that two Mad Max sequels are still in development, including a film centering on Charlize Theron's Furiosa.

Specifically, George Miller says about his planned Mad Max sequels that have been tentatively titled Wasteland and Furiosa.

"There are two stories, both involving Mad Max, and also a Furiosa story. It seems to be pretty clear that it's going to happen."

Nice! Now I don't know about you, but I firmly belong in the camp that screams Mad Max: Fury Road is one of the most excellent motion pictures to hit the big screen in decades. In fact, along with Joel and Ethan Coen...

Review: ‘Future ’38’ is an Unapologetically Punny Sci-Fi Comedy
If you ask how scientists are smart enough to invent time travel yet can’t find a way to defeat Hitler without needing time travel to augment their weapon’s power, Jamie Greenberg has succeeded. He’s succeeded if you don’t ask that question too because you’ll have given yourself fully to his unapologetically punny, “lost” film known as Future ’38. So Greenberg can’t lose. His film entertains with overt playfulness and reveals the pedants in the audience unable to simply laugh and have a good time without nit-picking every single detail despite it being a screwball science fiction comedy that intentionally takes liberties with both history and reality. If uber “film twitter” troll Neil deGrasse Tyson can be coaxed into coming aboard to poke fun at himself, you should too.

The premise is simple: America circa 1938—three years before Pearl Harbor brings us into World War II...

Second 'Mad Max: Fury Road' Trailer Is Insane
Charlize Theron and Tom Hardy in Mad Max: Fury Road (2015)
Five months after the first trailer debuted back in July, Warner Bros. has finally delivered the second trailer for the highly-anticipated Mad Max: Fury Road, starring Tom Hardy as Max Rockatansky. Haunted by his turbulent past, Mad Max believes the best way to survive is to wander alone. Nevertheless, he becomes swept up with a group fleeing across the Wasteland in a War Rig driven by an elite Imperator, Furiosa. They are escaping a Citadel tyrannized by the Immortan Joe, from whom something irreplaceable has been taken. Enraged, the Warlord marshals all his gangs and pursues the rebels ruthlessly in the high-octane Road War that follows.

The film also stars Nicholas Hoult as Nux, Hugh Keays-Byrne as Immortan Joe and Nathan Jones as Rictus Erectus. Collectively known as The Wives, Zo&#235 Kravitz plays Toast, Riley Keough is Capable, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley is Splendid, and supermodel Abbey Lee is The Dag, and Courtney Eaton is Fragile.
