Bankside Films has revealed a first look at Calum Macdiarmid’s feature debut, prison thriller Wasteman.

Rye Lane’s David Jonsson stars alongside The Hunger Games: The Ballad Of Songbirds & Snakes Tom Blyth.Bankside has also revealed additional cast, star of Disney+ seriesRivals Alex Hassell, plus Corin Silva and Paul Hilton.

Bankside Films has boarded Calum Macdiarmid’s prison thriller Wasteman starring 2023 Screen Star of Tomorrow David Jonsson and Tom Blyth and has struck an early deal with Lionsgate for UK & Ireland rights.

Macdiarmid’s feature debut follows parolee Taylor, whose hopes of a fresh start are jeopardised by the arrival of dominant cellmate Dee, played by Blyth, who recently played the young Coriolanus Snow in The Hunger Games: The Ballad Of Songbirds & Snakes.

Barry Keoghan To Play Billy The Kid

Riding high on acclaim for his recent work (including an Oscar nomination for The Banshees Of Inisherin), Barry Keoghan is looking to strike while the iron is hot and set up some projects on his own. He's now pushing forward a Billy the Kid biopic that has long been a film the actor has wanted to make.

"We’ve seen many versions of Billy the Kid on screen before," Keoghan tells Deadline. "My interest was in trying to tell a version that breaks from the facade of that cool, calm, and collected gunslinger Billy the Kid that we’re all used to seeing. I wanted to humanize him in a way."

The Internet Wants To Cancel Captain America: Civil War Because Of Its Title
Cancel culture has to be one of the worst things to have happened to society since social media became a ubiquitous part of everyday life for a lot of people, and while there’s often sound reasoning behind some of the targets, other times it just feels like the online flash-mob swells in numbers and turns something into a huge deal without knowing all of the facts.

One recent example saw people shocked that beloved Iron Man star Robert Downey Jr. had worn blackface in Tropic Thunder, with demands for him to apologize immediately and have him forcibly removed from the top of the Hollywood A-list. The only problem was that a lot of those that were offended hadn’t even seen the movie, and therefore had no idea that the actor’s Academy Award-nominated performance as Kirk Lazarus existed entirely as a satirical look at the entitlement of white actors.
