Courtney Nelms(I)

Courtney Elizabeth Nelms was born in Boston, Massachusetts, but raised in Silver Spring, Maryland most of her early years. There she learned improvisation from her high school coach Julia Gardner, and quickly became a staple at James Hubert Blake High School's black box theatre. From there, she was accepted into the University of Maryland to study Psychology. Through her college tenure, she gained notoriety as a member of SKETCHUP, University of Maryland's Premier Sketch Comedy group first as a member, later as an Advertising Director, and lastly as Creative Director before graduating in 2010. Immediately after school in search of new opportunities, she auditioned for a landed a lead role in Hail to the Groupies, directed by Leland Steigs. During the taping of this movie, she continued to grow her skills with improvisation, sketch writing, and stand up through the DC and Baltimore area. She has worked on films including Amsterdam with David O. Russell, and Namas Dei: The Tucker J. James Story with Yannis Zaferiou and Joshua Goldman after moving to the Greater Los Angeles Area.
