Shirley performed Barbershop Harmony in the Sweet Adelines Great Lakes Chorus (Barbershop Harmony) for 28 years. This includes education in singing, choreography, facial expression, stage presence, makeup, costuming and the discipline of acting. She performed on stage with the "Greese Paint Players Theater Group" and two other groups. She recently retired from the choir at her church after 60 years and was the music librarian for over 40 years.

Shirley performed as Mrs. Ida Straus in live productions of "The Last Night On The Titanic" at the Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island for several years and at other venues. She is presently a Vintage Fashion Model for "Fashion and the Automobile"
