Biography

    • Ian Brodsky was born and raised in the Lower Hudson Valley. He began playing violin at age seven, and with New York City in his backyard, his love for music grew into a love for everything the Performing Arts had to offer. He got a jump start on his career by taking any opportunity to hop down to New York City for auditions while working towards his degree at The State University of New York at New Paltz. A year before graduating, he landed his first job when John Carney was looking for an actor who played violin. That job would be for John's next film, "Can a Song Save Your Life?" which would become known as Begin Again. After filming, he graduated Summa cum Laude with a degree in Music and Theatre Performance and moved straight to New York City. He has since been performing at such venues as The Snapple Theatre Center, Theatre 80, Pan Asian Repertory Theatre, and Shadowland Stages, and has been a part of numerous developing works. He is one half of the founding duo of Dapper Devil Productions, whose premiere web series, Subletters, debuted in 2018. He hosts a weekly podcast, The Thing That Happened this Week, with Claire Manship. He continues to perform, play music, choreograph, and produce in New York.
