Born the third child with an older sister and one brother. MIchael Shawn Cunningham was born in San Francisco, CA. Living in the bay area for a while, his parents then moved to Southern California, there his spent time with his grandfather who operated a local movie theater. A few years after, they moved back to the bay area and again, he was in the movie theater life, now with his father at a bay area movie theater.
He got in to filmmaking in September 2011 after having a phone call with William H. Cosby (Bill Cosby) on an XM radio talk show. During the conversation, Mr. Cosby gave him three things to do for the start of his career.
1. Write something you know about. 2. Write something that you want to be in. 3. When you get your actors, let them be themselves.
Doing that, and with no prior experience, in the summer of 2012, he wrote, produced and directed his first film "The Shop" completed in 2014. next he created a short TV show starring Vivica A. Fox and Miguel A. Nunez Jr called "The Dirty". Then on to working as an associate producer on a TV series turned film called "On The Court" starring Tiny "Zeus" Lister. Working now with his own production company, BlackFloor Productions INC he has various projects on the slate
