Teo's father is Australian (of Czech Ashkenazi Jewish descent) and his mother is French (of Moroccan Sephardi Jewish descent). His grandfather Albert Halm wrote the book, My Handwriting Saved Me (2017), about his experiences as a Holocaust survivor. He was originally from the Carpathian Mountains.

Teo appeared in the original pilot of "Girl Meets World" (2014), but his character was discarded when the pilot was re-shot.

Teo won Best Actor - for 'Earth To Echo' at the 9th Annual Fanlala Pick Awards.

Nephew of French-born filmmaker Jérôme Cohen-Olivar.
