Adam Ethan Crow is an award-winning London-based writer-director who builds films the hard way-no grants, no BFI loans, no marquee backers. He started in radio, sharpened in television, and staked everything on features he self-financed in whole or in part. Lair, shot on a micro-budget, outperformed many studio releases at the box office that year and secured distribution through Studiocanal, Universal, and Sony, with theatrical play via MGM and The Weinstein Company. His latest feature, Midnight Caller, made the same way, set a Raindance sellout record, sparked a three-way bidding war, and went on to win multiple awards (Best Picture, Best Director, Best Screenplay), close Cinequest 2024, and play major festivals including Raindance, FrightFest, and Macabro. Along the way, he's delivered work for Netflix, the BBC, 20th Century Fox, Buena Vista, Sky TV, and Amazon; screened at BAFTA and the British Society of Cinematographers; and collaborated with producers Scott Mednick, James M. Vernon, Robert Laycock, and Denise O'Dell.
Crow's reputation is simple: lean crews, disciplined budgets, and uncompromising control-films willed into existence against the odds.
