- Scotty auditioned and was accepted into the prestigious American Repertory Theater / Moscow Art Theater School Institute for Advanced Theater Training at Harvard University where he earned his MFA in Acting. During the program at Harvard he performed in Cambridge, New York, Los Angeles and even Russia while spending three months studying acting, voice, movement, fencing and ballet at the Moscow Art Theater School. During his graduate studies he was further inspired by guests artists and speakers such as Audra McDonald, Neil Gaiman, Uzo Aduba, Bill Pullman, David Alan Grier, Serj Tankian, and Laura Linney.
Scotty fell in love with improv in high school and in college threw himself into improv, student films, theater and improvisation drama, winning awards for "Best Actor" and "Actor I most want to work with again" as well as nominations from the KCATCF for the Irene Ryan award. He received a BA in Mass Communication from Walla Walla University with minors in Drama and Religion. He studied improv at The Groundlings Theater in Hollywood and the Market Theater in Seattle. He credits his background in improv for his spontaneous and versatile acting and writing.
