‘Masameer Junior’ Movie Ending Explained: Is Maisa Dead?
Image
The ending of Masameer Junior was mostly about how the three six-year-olds, Trad, Saltooh, and Saad, accomplished the mission they had set out for. Shortly after their school teacher, Mr. Muneer, introduced them to the concept of “jahanum or hell,” the trio decided to atone for their sins by performing good deeds. However, they soon realized that they were only efficient in taking lives rather than saving one. This brought them to the conclusion that they would kill someone to save themselves from going to hell. They came across a woman named Maisa Wahbi, whom they believed was a homewrecker who lured men with her singing and dancing, and these men would often ignore their spouses to see her perform. I mean it wasn’t Maisa’s fault at all. These disloyal men were themselves responsible for wrecking their married lives, but the kids who grew up in a conservative...

Millie Bobby Brown Meets Adolescent Girls in Brazil
Image
Unicef Goodwill Ambassador Millie Bobby Brown met adolescent girls and young children while in São Paulo, Brazil, this week, to hear about their lives, the challenges they face, and how they are pursuing their dreams.

Millie Bobby Brown met adolescent girls and young children while in Brazil

During the visit, the Emmy-nominated actress – who earlier this month delivered a speech at the United Nations Headquarters during the Commission on the Status of Women (Csw) to champion girls’ rights – visited a school in the Cidade Tiradentes district of São Paulo and met with a group of teenage girls.

“I’m very grateful to Unicef for the opportunity to meet the young people in this community, as well as the teachers,” said Brown. “I was especially moved to have spent time with several adolescent girls at the school, to listen and learn about their personal stories and experiences. We talked about the...

‘Back To 15’ Season 3 Review: A Sloppy Time Travel Show That Delivers Nothing New
Image
Back to 15 seasons one and two established the fact that this teenage time travel story is here to stay. Clearly the first two were successful; that’s why the third season is now out for everyone to stream. The show follows the life of the young girl Anita, who juggles the past and future to set her life right. Sadly, things do not work the way she wants, even in this season. The third season of Back to 15, released on 21st August 2024, is the continuation of the time travel escapades of Anita and her friends.

The third season began with Anita being unable to delete her profile on Photo Blog, which led to her being dragged back to 2009, when she was in college. She is still surrounded by the same group of people except for two new faces, a fine arts student named Filipa, and a new roommate named Jessica.

3000 Nights: The Unfinished Night
Image
by Hadri Shah

The first thing I did after watching “3000 Nights” was to Google the name of the film's lead actress. Her name? Maisa Abd El Hadi. She's my contemporary, hailing from Palestine, born in Nazareth. Besides “3000 Nights,” Maisa has graced other films like “The Angel” and “The Reports Between Sarah & Saleem.” As for other details—whether she's Muslim, why she doesn't wear a hijab, her marital status, or political views—I suggest you find out for yourself.

Maisa El Hadi, with her wavy black hair, takes centre stage in the film that premiered on September 12, 2015—the same date as my birthday. She portrays Layal, a schoolteacher who is found guilty of hiding a Palestinian teenage boy accused of a fatal attack at an Israeli military checkpoint. Despite her husband's plea to testify falsely in court, Layal denies that the teenager ever threatened her.

The judge's verdict? Layal...

Tudum Livestream Scores 78 Million Views — but Netflix CMO’s Real Measure of Success Is All Those Crying Fans in Brazil (Exclusive)
Image
The livestream for Netflix’s third annual Tudum fan event garnered 78 million views across all of the streamer’s social platforms Saturday, marking this version — presented in front of 11,000 people in São Paulo, Brazil — as up 86% in viewership from last year’s 41.8 million views, and more than 203% from 2021’s initial 25.7 million.

Netflix likely didn’t set out to bring the in-person Tudum crowd to tears during the three-hour event — but once they started flowing, it was a fortunate side effect the streamer proudly displayed on social media.

“I wish you could have been there to convey the electricity of the audience and capture those moments,” Netflix chief marketing officer Marian Lee told Variety Tuesday about the streamer’s first attempt at pulling off Tudum as a real-time presentation with an in-person audience, following two years of the virtual-version of the event. “We posted on Twitter crying fans in the audience...

Brazil’s Production Sector Booms, Following Crisis
Image
In a breath-taking plot twist, the health of Brazil’s indie production sector of films and TV shows has turned from the worst crisis in 30 years to an unprecedented boom.

The growth is fuelled by commissions from streaming platforms such as Netflix, local Globoplay, Amazon Prime Video and HBO Max, and most recently the “resurrection” of federal incentive body Fundo Setorial do Audiovisual (Fsa).

“We never produced so much in the history of Brazil,” helmer Paulo Sergio Almeida, head of film marketing and research firm Filme B, told Variety.

The scenario today is radically different from the one in 2019, when the National Cinema Agency (Ancine) virtually paralyzed funding for the Fsa, by far the main local incentive. The Federal Accounts Tribunal (Tcu) dictated the halt, due to alleged inadequacies in Ancine’s system of audit expenses of productions subsidized with Fsa coin.

In the same year, the far right Jair Bolsonaro...
