This will be the latest TV series to join AMC Networks' Immortal Universe, alongside shows like Interview with the Vampire and Mayfair Witches, all of which are based on the fantastical horror works of Anne Rice. Alongside The Walking Dead, the Immortal Universe has become one of AMC's marquee shared universes, based on a beloved source of speculative fiction. At Atx TV Festival in Austin, Texas, creators revealed that The Talamasca will debut this October on AMC and AMC+. The season is planned to consist of six episodes and will star Nicholas Denton, William Fichtner, and Elizabeth McGovern. Maisie Richardson-Sellers and Jason Schwartzman are other notable names among the show's cast. Schwartzman will only appear in a guest-starring role.

Least of all was producer Mark Johnson, who thought that the series would do well enough to warrant a second season, but an entire Anne Rice universe? That wasn't even on his radar. Once it became a success, Mayfair Witches came the following year, and a third series, The Talamasca, is set to premiere this fall. Besides sharing first-look photos, producers announced that Celine Buckens is becoming a regular castmember while Jason Schwartzman is set to guest star. Produced by AMC Studios, Anne Rice’s Talamasca focuses on a secretive society called the Talamasca, comprised of the men and women responsible for tracking and containing the witches, vampires, and other creatures scattered around the globe.

Buckens stars as Doris, an old soul who lives with a coven of witches on a houseboat, while Schwartzman portrays Burton, a rakish vampire leading a cloistered life in a luxurious Upper West Side penthouse. They join the previously announced ensemble of Nicholas Denton, Elizabeth McGovern, William Fichtner and Maisie Richardson-Sellers.

Moriarty, who did not write a follow-up book to “Nine Perfect Strangers,” gave the team her blessing for a second installment of the series, which was renewed by Hulu for a Season 2 in June 2023, well after Season 1 first premiered in 2021. And since “Nine Perfect Strangers” first premiered nearly four years ago, EP Bruna Papandrea noted psilocybin (a.k.a. magic mushrooms) have been embraced tenfold, opening the door for countless stories unlocking past traumas.

“There’s no underlying material at all, no ongoing story,” Papandrea told TheWrap, noting that Season 2 picks up with Masha’s past controversies having been written about and publicized heavily.

Produced by A24, Strong Baby and Amazon MGM Studios, the college-set ensemble comedy follows a closeted former football player (Skinner) as he quickly befriends a high school outsider (Wally Baram) to fit in. One day, none of the kids in Mrs. Gandy's (Julia Garner) room show up to school, because at 2:17 the night before, they all left their houses and disappeared into the night. According to Cregger, the mystery is just the starting point. "By the midpoint, we've moved on to way crazier s--- than that," he told Entertainment Weekly.
