Nicole Karsin wrote, produced and directed her opera prima, the feature documentary We Women Warriors (Tejiendo Sabudría), that premiered in 2012. The film screened at nearly 40 festivals, including the 16th Annual Docuweeks in LA and NYC, DocsDF in Mexico City, the St. Louis International Film Festival, Portland Women's Festival, Minneapolis/ St. Paul International Film Festival, Festival Internacional de Cine de Derechos Humanos in Buenos Aires, Festival del Cine de Lima, Festival do Rio, Cine + Más San Francisco Latino Film Festival, and the Los Angeles Latino International Film Festival.

The film received the Outstanding Achievement Award in Filmmaking at the Williamsburg International Film Festival, the Best Native/ Indigenous Film Award at the Greenville International Film Festival, the Best Documentary Feature, Best Directing, Best Cinematography and Best Editing at the Women's Independent Film Festival in Los Angeles and the Prix Salvador Allende at the Festival Des Libertés in Brussels. We Women Warriors was also nominated as Best Documentary for the 2013 Imagen Awards in Los Angeles.

Karsin has worked in Latin America for 20 years as a journalist, human rights activist, and documentarian. In 2007, she formed Todos Los Pueblos Productions to move audiences to action through artful, character-driven films about global struggles for human rights and dignity. Karsin was a fellow at the National Association of Latino Independent Producers' Latino Producers Academy & Film Independent's 7-week Inaugural Documentary Lab in 2011. As a journalist, she has reported for the New York Times, Village Voice, San Francisco Chronicle, Earth Times, Women's Enews, NPR's Latino USA and Pacifica Radio's Free Speech Radio News, among others. Karsin holds a B.A. from Sarah Lawrence College and an M.S. from Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism.
