Micah Fowler is thrilled to be part of the amazing cast and crew of the ABC Network Television show, " Speechless" as the role of JJ DiMeo. He was recently named to the "Forbes 30 Under 30, class of 2018", which acknowledges the inspiring work of young entrepreneurs and game changers today. Micah is so honored to not only have been considered, but chosen to stand along side such an extraordinary group of individuals making a difference in our world today.

Additionally, Micah was featured individual in Variety's 2017 Youth Impact Report.

Micah was honored to have received a 2017 Teen Choice Nomination, for Choice Comedy TV Actor, for his work on Speechless.

Micah, along with Scott Silveri, 20th Century Fox Television, ABC and the cast of Speechless, recently received the 2017 Catalyst Award for "Television Show of the Year".

Micah, along with the cast & networks and executive team of Speechless received the 2017 Television Critics Association "Outstanding Achievement in Youth Programming" Award.

Micah and the "Speechless" cast and creative team were selected as the 2016 recipient of the SAG-AFTRA Disability Awareness Award, which honors those who have made a significant contribution in raising the visibility and awareness of disability issues in the broadcast, sound recording, and entertainment industries.

Micah, along with the cast & networks and executive team of Speechless recently received the 2017 Annie Glenn Award from ASHA. This award is named after Annie Glenn, the wife of late Senator & astronaut, John Glenn, known nationwide for her advocacy for people with communication disorders. This award recognizes efforts to broaden awareness of communication issues and those who exemplify Annie Glenn's efforts to speak out about stuttering - a disorder she overcame as an adult - and other communication disorders.

Micah also honored to receive the 2016 Include NYC Inclusion Award for helping bring love, equity, and access to young people with disabilities in New York City.

Micah made his television debut on an episode of " Blue's Clues" when he was nine and later appeared on several episodes of " Sesame Street ." At 15, Micah made his feature film debut, as "Barry" in Jason Reitman's 2013 movie, " Labor Day," opposite Kate Winslet and Josh Brolin.

In real life, Micah lives every day conquering the challenges brought on by cerebral palsy and uses both a walker and a wheelchair, the latter for longer distances. Unlike his character, Micah can speak and uses his voice to be a constant advocate for others with disabilities; he is a proud ambassador for the Cerebral Palsy Foundation. Fowler hopes viewers will get to know JJ as a very typical person, to the point that they don't even see JJ's disability, but see his personality, potential and the person he is. Micah recognizes the huge responsibility of representing the special needs community and hopes to make them proud!

Micah is an avid movie fan and especially enjoys the Marvel and D.C. Comics Franchises. In addition, he is a resident expert in all things " Star Wars." When not playing video games with his friends, he also plays on the Woodbridge Warriors, a sled hockey team with a very competitive group of special needs players.

Micah divides his time between Los Angeles and the East Coast. He has one sister, Kelsey Fowler who is also an actress and his inspiration for getting started in the business. She along with his parents, David and Tammy Fowler, are extremely supportive of Micah's endeavors.

    • Quotes
About a year and a half ago, my agent asked me to send in a "personality tape" for an "untitled Scott Silveri project". I put together a tape of me just talking about myself and joking around. A year later, January of 2016, they had requested another personality tape for the same project-then titled Speechless. A few days later the agent said the casting director was sending some scenes over. I spent an entire Saturday putting together the audition tape of the six Speechless scenes. My parents verbalized all of the other character's lines (off camera) while I reacted to all of the dialogue on camera. The agent told us they loved the tape and would be in touch. Two months later, I found out I booked the role of JJ on my 18th Birthday. Best birthday present ever!
