Trivia

  • Pop/R&B group formed in 1983 by musician/producer Buster Pearson and comprising his five children, Denise Pearson, Doris Pearson, Lorraine Pearson, Stedman Pearson, and Delroy Pearson.
  • The group made their TV debut in late 1983, when they performed on BBC's Pebble Mill at One (1972), in a special 'youth' themed episode. According to their father/manager, Buster, RCA were on the phone offering a record deal before their performance had ended. The deal was signed in February 1984 and their first single with Tent/RCA, "Hide and Seek", was released in the spring.
  • All five band members were born in the London boroughs of Islington (Stedman, Deniece and Delroy) and Brent (Doris and Lorraine), but they all grew up together in Romford, Essex, the family having moved there in 1973.
  • On a visit to the USA in late 1986, the group befriended actor Malcolm-Jamal Warner, who would later direct them in a promo video for their 1994 single Five Star: (I Love You) For Sentimental Reasons (1994).
  • The group were highly influenced by Michael Jackson, however Doris was the only member of the group to actually meet him in person (during his 'Bad' tour), which she has described as one of the highlights of her career.
