Katie Bonham is an award-winning writer and director with an extensive back catalogue of work across short film and theatre. Her work is recognised for its poignant style and original vision in exploring social commentaries within the concepts of folklore, fantasy and horror. Growing up in a small seaside town in Kent, Katie draws inspiration from her hometown and experiences of spiritualism and Tarot.

Katie's narrative short films have screened at events and festivals across the world, including four sold out world premieres at the prestigious horror film festival, Frightfest in Leicester Square, London.

Her magical realism short film, Mab, won the audience award for Best Short Film at Abertoir Horror Film Festival, and was nominated for the Melies D'Or by the European Fantastic Film Federation at Sitges International Film Festival. Katie was also a finalist for the 'Shortcuts to Hell' short film competition, a collection of short horror films now streaming on iTunes. Her work is also on Bloody Disgusting's 'Bloody Bites TV'.

Katie was commissioned by BBC Arts for their 'New Creatives' scheme, writing and directing surrealist short, Selfie Stick, which has broadcasted numerous times on BBC4, as part of their 'Female Filmmakers' features, and is also available on iPlayer.

Katie is a member of DirectorsUK, female directing collective Cinesisters, and as of 2022 joined the board of advisors for Frightfest Horror Film Festival. Katie also directs theatre, with her last show, a modern female-led version of Romeo and Juliet set within the cut-throat world of fashion design, performing at Putney Theatre in London.
