Bhattacharya is Mexican American. She grew up in Washington State and went to Cornish College of the Arts in Seattle where she graduated from the acting conservatory. She, along with her writing partner Ali Lavenol are alumnus of the WGA's Showrunner Training Program in 2023, the Fox Writers Initiative Writing Program 2010, and NBC Writer's On The Verge 2011.
