The years leading up to the French Revolution offer a cinematic canvas of unparalleled drama, a world of gilded palaces and public discontent. The Rose of Versailles dives headfirst into this turmoil, but through a unique lens. It centers not on one, but two remarkable women whose lives intersect as history unravels.
We meet the young Austrian princess Marie Antoinette, destined to become the infamous queen of France. But her shadow and sworn protector is the film’s fictional heart: Commander Oscar François de Jarjayes.
Raised from birth as a man to secure her family’s military legacy, Oscar serves in the Royal Guard, her identity a known secret in the court. The film sets the stage for a grand story of duty, love, and identity, played out against the backdrop of a society about to tear itself apart.

There's almost too much anime out there. It's a great problem to have for an anime-lover, as there's no shortage of series in any genre for fans to watch. If there is a downside to the incredible amount of animation out there, it's that some shows fly under the radar for way too long. While series like Dragon Ball, One Piece, and Attack on Titan get an incredible amount of views thanks to their quality and popularity, there are a ton of underrated anime series that deserve a lot more attention than they get.
While most series don't stack up to the three mentioned above, they're still excellent in what they try to achieve. It doesn't matter if they're a romance series, shōnen, or something a little edgier - some series just didn't get the views that they probably could have.

While some isekai protagonists get transported to new, fun worlds, the grass isn't always greener. Some isekai worlds are dark, brutal, and unforgiving, making the main character wish they could go back home. Dark isekai is a newer addition to the wider genre of isekai, and it doesn't have too many entrants. Most isekai series focus on the brighter side of life and give their characters fun powers in their vibrant new worlds. Dark isekai do the opposite, usually leaving the main character in a harder environment than they can initially handle.
Some characters, like Ainz from Overlord, are perfectly capable of handling the environment they're in and instead choose to be the world's villain. It's not entirely a dark world for Ainz, but it sure is for everyone who isn't his friend. Dark isekai have a unique opportunity of pitting the main character against the world their isekai'd into,...

Class 1-a has been the focus of most of My Hero Academia, and remains so until the end. Although it's safe to say that it has a bunch of talented students, there are a few characters who rise above the fray. The author of the series, Kohei Horikoshi, has actually put in quite some effort to write some wonderful characters, both boys and girls.
In fact, My Hero Academia is one of the very few manga out there with relatively well-written female characters that often shine and aren't pushed to the background. On the other hand, some fans have argued that the girls are often sidelined when it comes to battle, which is mostly done by male students. That said, Class 1-a, in particular, has some of the most powerful female characters that have been seen in the series to date. Here are all the 1-a girls ranked by how strong they are.

Anime is filled with manipulative characters. Sometimes, they are the great villain who duped their minions like lambs to the slaughter. Sometimes, they are the villain's minion who just humors their boss' delusion of being the one in charge.
There are plenty of times when the character the audience thought was going to be the hero or the love interest, or even the narrator, reveals themselves to be the one controlling everything in the plot. They're so good, even the viewers did not realize they were tricked. And while it usually helps, a character does not necessarily have to be outright evil to be manipulative – they just have to be the one pulling the strings from the sidelines.
Updated on March 12th, 2024 by Chelsea Steele: Manipulative characters in anime are more prevalent than one would think. They are often the driving force in any conflict and masters of getting others to do their bidding.
