Grace's Potential 9-1-1: Lone Star Return Gets Disappointing Update From Showrunner

9-1-1: Lone Star actor Sierra McClain will not return as Grace Ryder in the series' final season. The procedural drama follows the lives and careers of the responders of Austin's 126 Fire Department. Grace Ryder, a 9-1-1 dispatcher known for being calm under pressure and her strong relationships with her colleagues, has been an essential part of the series since its very first season.

According to TVLine, 9-1-1: Lone Star co-showrunner Rashad Raisani has confirmed that despite efforts to bring McClain back, she will not appear in the final season or make any cameos prior to the final season's release, clarifying not for lack of effort. Scheduling conflicts and other factors are said to have ultimately prevented her return. McClain's representatives have been contacted by TVLine for comment, and at this time only the characters exit remains confirmed.

Brewsters Millions Sequel with Richard Pryor's Children Sets Release Date

Tis the season to be filthy rich, if Brewster can only spend all that money. The long-in-production follow-up to the late Richard Pryor and John Candys vastly underrated comedy classic Brewsters Millions has officially wrapped production, and the sequel will drop just prior to the holidays on December 5. Brewsters Millions: Christmas is not only a BET+ Original, but its truly a family affair, starring both Pryors real-life daughter, Rain, and his son, Richard Pryor Jr.

While Pryor, Jr. admits his isnt a large part in the new Brewsters Millions story, the iconic comedians son will be portraying the same character (Monty Brewster) his father did in the 1985 movie, which came out in theaters nearly 40 years ago. Pryor Jr. said (via Deadline):

Exclusive: The BET+ Original film Brewster’s Millions: Christmas is set to premiere on December 5, it has been revealed as production wraps.

The character of Montgomery Brewster was famously portrayed by Richard Pryor in the 1985 comedy Brewster’s Millions, based on the George Barr McCutcheon novel of the same name. Pryor’s son Richard Pryor Jr. will take on the role in the BET+ project with Rain Pryor starring as Opal.

BET+ Sets 2022 Original Holiday Movie Slate Featuring Ne-Yo, Serayah, Romeo Miller and More Across 10 Titles (Exclusive)

After debuting eight new original holiday movies in 2021, BET+ is getting even more into the seasonal spirit this year with 10 more titles rolling out beginning Nov. 3, Variety has learned exclusively.

The 2022 slate features films starring Ne-Yo, Sereyah, Romeo Miller, LeToya Luckett and Lala Milan, as well as returning BET+ holiday movie staples like Jasmine Guy, Terrence Carson and Dorien Wilson. The titles come from directors and writers including Victoria Rowell (who also appears in “A Christmas Gift”), Robin Givens, Bree West and Patricia Cuffie Jones.

AMC Releases ‘Kevin Can F**k Himself’ Premiere Date and Trailer (TV News Roundup)

AMC announced that the first two episodes of the upcoming dark comedy “Kevin Can F**k Himself” will premiere on AMC Plus on June 13 and air on June 20 at 9 p.m. on AMC.

The remaining episodes will continue to debut on AMC Plus one week ahead of the AMC linear airings on Sundays at 9 p.m.

In the new series, “Schitt’s Creek” star Annie Murphy plays Allison McRoberts, a prototypical sitcom wife who wakes up and revolts against the injustices in her life. The series also stars Mary Hollis Inboden, Eric Petersen, Alex Bonifer, Brian Howe and Raymond Lee, and is executive produced by creator Valerie Armstrong, Rashida Jones, Will McCormack and showrunner Craig Digregorio.

Exclusive: Empire star Vivica A. Fox has found a new kingdom – joining Umc relationship drama Stuck With You.

Fox, who played Cookie Lyon’s sister Candace in the Fox soap, will recur in the second season of the series, which launched earlier this year on the AMC Networks-backed streamer.

The drama stars K.C. Undercover’s Tammy Townsend and Queen Sugar’s Timon Kyle Durrett as Candace and Luvell, an unhappily married celebrity couple that struggles with being the face of #relationshipgoals while living separate lives behind closed doors.

Umc Renews ‘Monogamy’, ‘Double Cross’, House Divided,’ More Amid Sub Surge

Exclusive: Umc, the AMC Networks streaming service with a focus on Black film and TV, has renewed four of its original series including the top-rated Craig Ross Jr.’s Monogamy and A House Divided, which will both return for their third seasons.

The streamer also gave Season 2 renewals to rookies Double Cross and Stuck With You, part of a renewed focus on originals that has seen a new series premiere almost every month on the service in 2020. That has helped spur a subscriber surge of 200% over the past 12 months, according to the network, with about half that total coming since the coronavirus lockdown that began in March.
