Giorgi Tavartkiladze is a Georgian director and screenwriter whose work includes Bad People (2019), which premiered at the Hong Kong International Film Festival, the short comedy An Hour (2020), and Ascension (2023). Born and raised in Tbilisi, Georgia, he graduated from the Shota Rustaveli Theatre and Film Georgian State University. Since June 2023, he has been part of the movement Georgian Cinema is Under the Danger, which opposes censorship introduced by the country's current pro-Russian and authoritarian government, and remains in boycott of all state organizations and the state itself.
