On August 14, 1984, Alex Mathias Retamal Soto was born in Santiago, Chile. In
1989, his family emigrated from Santiago, Chile to Montreal, Canada for
a better future, a fresh start. He grew up in a multi-lingual
household, speaking Spanish and French.
He grew up watching classics such as Scarface, Blood In, Blood Out, Casino and Carlito's
Way. It was these movies that inspired and shaped him as an actor
today, but it was just a matter of time before his life took a dark
turn of events, mirroring those in his favorite films.
In 2008, Mathias was determined to change his life. He studied Media Technology for Film and Television Production Sets at Collège O'Sullivan de Montréal and worked as a freelance behind the camera.
The year 2011 marked his move to Vancouver, B.C.. Armed with an ambitious goal, he attended then graduated from Vancouver Acting School in 2012.
Mathias' visions finally became reality. In 2013, he made his first television appearance in CW's The Tomorrow People. From that moment on, this Chilean-French-Canadian has been on a roll, booking one gig after another.
