Jim Coughlin(II)

IMDbProStarmeterSee rank
A film researcher and writer, specializing in studying the acting careers of neglected supporting players, Jim Coughlin was born in 1951 and raised on the grounds of Playland Amusement Park in Rye, New York. He subsequently appeared in a documentary celebrating the 75th Anniversary of Playland in 2003. Coughlin submitted his first to-be-published article on Dwight Frye to Leonard Maltin which would appear in "Film Fan Monthly" in April 1974. He also contributed to Maltin's "The Real Stars" in 1979. Coughlin had collaborated with Barry Brown on "Unsung Heroes of the Heroes" from 1976-1978, but the book sadly went unpublished after Barry's tragic death. Over the next 28 years, Coughlin contributed more than thirty career studies that were published by Gary and Susan Svehla in their magazines "Midnight Marquee" and "Mad About Movies." In 1997, Jim had the privilege of co-authoring "Dwight Frye's Last Laugh" with renowned writer Gregory W. Mank and Dwight David Frye, the actor's son. Coughlin later compiled and expanded some of his earlier work, adding new performers and research, into a second book for Midnight Marquee Press entitled "Forgotten Faces of Fantastic Films" (2015).
